We always visit Coconuts when staying in Fort Lauderdale and we are never disappointed. Because we were six, (four adults, two children) I was able to reserve a table and avoid the sometimes long wait for a table. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed...the sun and the water views. We had starters of devilled eggs, JP’s heirloom tomato salad and the tuna poke. All very good, in particular the tuna poke - it was delicious! Mains of coconut shrimp, fish tacos, lobster roll, crab cakes, Tim’s backyard burger & barbecued back ribs were all very good, the servings plentiful. The youngest in our group found the ribs a bit too spicy for her liking. We enjoyed two bottles of Trimbach Pinot Blanc (an Alsatian wine) which paired perfectly with our food selections. It is $45. per bottle but on Mondays and Tuesdays, Coconuts offers half price bottles of wine so we only paid $45. for both! We will definitely be going back in a couple of weeks when new guests arrive in Fort Lauderdale. Total cost including tax and tip came to $276.84More

Our group of eleven was well taken care of here at Coconuts. The drinks were great especially the coconut mojito on the rocks. Our server knew her stuff and recommended some amazing meals like the lump crab cakes, jambalaya (very spicy) and the tuna poke....The place was very busy but they did a great job getting our food our quickly and hot. The view is beautiful, although you might start to feel bad about yourself watching all of the gorgeous yachts go by, knowing that you’ll never be able to afford one. Oh well, the food was amazing and that will have to do.More

One of our absolute favorite restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, we visited again tonight ironically, one year to the date of our last visit and they did not disappoint. During our wait for a table, a popcorn storm showed up forcing tables to move from the...lower water side deck up to the regular deck and inside. Wait times sky rocketed and the service team took it all in stride and did the best they could despite a 45-60 minute quoted wait turning into an unexpected 90 minute wait for some tables. Almost everyone was understanding but the two girls at the host stand really held it together! We waited a really long time but when we finally were seated it was the shock and awe it has always been. The scoobys are my absolute favorite and despite $23 dollars being a little high for the portion size, just too good to pass up. We ordered some and they were not as earth shaking as normal but our friends enjoyed them so send in another order. Our second batch was perfect and like we’ve gotten before, I think the first batch was a fluke. Don’t get me wrong, they were good, just not as amazing as usual. 3 of us order the hangar steak and... IT. WAS. AMAZING. I also could not resist the chocolate pecan pie, also incredible. Despite a very busy night, crazy weather and uptight crowd of people waiting for tables this place knocked it out of the park.More

I visited on a Thursday night. Parking is a fiasco with the valet running around like a chicken without a head. Then, I get in, and take a seat at the bar. The bartender greeted me, and took my order. I then waited 20 minutes...for my Stella. He forgot and pretty much ignored me for at least 15 minutes. Got the beer then waited another 20 minutes for the fish tacos, which were recommended on the menu. I'm not sure who's recommending these fish tacos because they were soggy and pretty tasteless. The rice and chickpeas on the side were okay. And, they are doing work on the intracostal outside the restaurant so it was pretty noisy. Won't return.More

I would divide my review of this place into two: 1) the bar outside and 2) the restaurant. Starting by the bar, it is a lovely pit stop while you are awaiting your table in the restaurant. They don’t have a variety of drinks but...they serve 3 or 4 cocktails that are simply perfect. They are prepared really well to be quite refreshing. There are no tables at the bar but only high chairs either overlooking the parking area or the small stretch of water where all the big boats park. The sunset is nice and it is a nice place to mingle and have some social fun. But the service can be better. The bartender does not smile and is quite stiff. He can be a little more smiley and welcoming. The restaurant is big and very crowded especially during the weekend. As a result, it is quite loud and you will probably have to increase your voice so the people with you can hear you. The menu is very average. Don’t expect anything out of the ordinary as most of the food is about burgers, sandwiches, salads and items along those lines that you can find anywhere in the city. It feels like the restaurant is a large fast food restaurant more than anything else. Our waiter was very efficient and very nice but also lacks this welcoming feel that I did not feel during my stay (probably because he is stretched think between many tables) Nice place for a drink but I would take my bite somewhere else, where the same food is a little less expensive and where there is less of a wait time for a burger ***Please like this review of you find it helpful. We went to Coconuts for a late lunch and had a table outside with a view of the intracoastal. I had the Mahi sandwich which was good after they got the order correct. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and the other person also...had the Mahi sandwich. The food and service was good and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the view and nice weather. The restaurant is located just north of the swimming hall of fame. The restaurant has valet parking which costs $5. We will go back to this restaurant the next time we are in Fort Lauderdale.More

A fabulous and lively bar/restaurant with coastal water views. Unfortunatley, we found this restaurant towards the end of our break but did go there for our penultimate and last night. The seafood is wonderful, the bar has a fantastic buzz and they do take bookings....We turned up both evenings and sat in the bar area which is on a first come, first served basis and both evenings, althought the restaurant was extreemly busy, we had a table within 10 minutes of arrival. The staff couldn’t do enough for you. We had fabulous advice with reference to the menu and everything that was put in front of us was fabulous quality. I would highly recommend the oysters and the scoobies, which are a devine little crab claw in a bucket of garlic and chilli butter. It was a comfortable 15/20 walk from Fort Lauderdale central beach. I understand they will take bookings for tables of 6, there is a bit of a wait if you want a waterside view at busy times.More

This was our first dining experience at Coconuts. When we walked up for dinner on a Saturday night it was packed, we were told there would be a 70 minute wait (even for 1st available). We were pleasantly surprised when 20 minutes later when our...pager went off. We started out with two appetizers: grilled jerk chicken wings, and spinach and artichoke dip. The wings were crispy and flavorful and the dip was ok. Since this is predominently a seafood restaurant one member of our party was hesitant to go because he does not like fish. He ordered the danish babyback barbecued ribs and they were absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Although we were stuffed from appetizers and our meal, a patron reccomended the coconut cheesecake, so each couple shared a piece, and it did not disappoint. The texture and flavor was very good. They do drizzle raspbery sauce on it. Some in our party would have preferred less, but I thought it was just the right balance of tart and sweet. If you are looking for a fancy place to eat, this is not your spot. If you are looking for a casual restaurant on the water with very good food, I would reccomend you try it. I will be going back there the next time I am in Fort Lauderdale.More

The waterside tables are the main draw, not the food. Servers are attentive, but often a queue to be seated and lunch took too long to arrive at our inside table of six. Raw bar is limited at lunch. $18 for 1/2 dozen oysters! Too...much bread and fries as fillers. Any fish fry serves a more generous portion of fish on their sandwich. An entertaining place to watch tarpon and pelicans. They are not leaving hungry. Have dined here about three times ; neither do I recall happy hour drinks being memorable but the wonderful sunset with friends/family at our table usually are.More

After choosing our dinner locations during our mini-vacay, we were looking forward to Coconuts the most. Ambience was great. Jambalaya was excellent, perfectly spicy. And the prosecco was very good. But...the waiter tried to steer us away from the conch fritters, he said they were...doughy...we ended getting them and they were delicious. A team of 3 servers were introduced to us. You'd think with that coverage, the service would've been outstanding. We waited nearly 1 hour for dinner. And had trouble getting their attention for more drinks while we waited. If you enjoy good, craft beers, go elsewhere as their selection was limited to La Rubia Blonde. The Mahi was flavorless, poor quality. The fries were similar to a bag of frozen krinkle walmart fries. The easiest things (fish and fries) were unacceptably low quality. Sorry to say, it was disappointing and our least favorite dining.More

Don’t get me wrong, majority of the people you ask in Fort Lauderdale will tell you that they love coconuts and it’s such a fun spot. I, am not part of that majority and I am not a big fan of coconuts. I’m not a...fan of the fact that they don’t accept reservations. I’m not a fan of the fact that they use their customers for hype by creating large crowds and lines at the door. I am not a fan of: the sticky/slippery floors & dirty wooden dock, the wobbly tables and cheap tableware, the duck tape fixes through the outdoor area, the smell of boat fumes and Pelican poop. If you sit in the vicinity of the kitchen you can see the grease on the walls and the ceilings. There’s multiple team members to a table and too often anything you ask after the main order always takes a long time to arrive. How do I know all this if I’m not a fan, you ask? I am much more uptight about dining standards and prefer more formal venues, but my friends like it (remember that majority I mentioned. Coconuts is pretty much as casual as it comes on the beach and that’s just not me. I Am a Fan of; their “be nice” campaign. Food quality/price is very fair and that’s why they are so popular. Even knowing this I still rather pay an up charge for a nicer venue. So, if you’re like me, don’t go. If you’re not like me, go, enjoy.More

You will pay for the waterside location and atmosphere. Coconuts is a very popular restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, and it offers parking but it is very hard to find a spot. It has a substantial waiting time to be seated and it has it owns...style, it has been there forever. You probably will have a good time there, so enjoy. Service is pretty good but food is average, presentation is not remarkable and the ingredients are ordinary, sometimes not cooked properly, too much grease and flour. It's overpriced. A good suggestion are The Scoobies.More

We had a terrific dinner here our first of vacation. We tried the crab scoobies appetizer, which was excellent. We only wanted a taste so we only ordered one order, had we wanted more of an appetizer, we would have ordered two portions. G ordered...a bowl of lobster bisque which was huge and came with huge chunks of lobster meat, extremely tasty and creamy (I would order it wo the creme fraiche ) Three of us had the grouper special grilled with crabmeat on top, it was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. G ordered the bbq ribs with pineapple bbq sauce. The ribs were perfectly cooked and the sauce was fantastic. Even the fries were v good. Alas, we had a large late lunch so no room for dessert! Highly recommend.More

The wait is still long - up to an hour. It is disappointing to see so many of the menu items denoted with a MP (market price). You end up spending more than you planned. The JP Heirloom tomatoes were not very exciting at $15....The Scoobies is expensive at $23 but well worth it. Deviled Eggs were a hit. The Lobster Club at $28 is still a good deal. Jambalaya an interesting concept, quite spicy. And the Key Lime Pie divine. Generally quite expensive, but good quality, and service (Marisa B.) great. The Dock Bar is quite snooty, with a very limited selection of beers.More

Our first visit provided excellent service with a server who explained the menu clearly along with his recommendations which were tasty and well presented. The mahi mahi was perfect. A second visit delivered very average service and a main dish fish course that was undercooked...and had to be returned; for which none of the serving staff seemed perturbed. All in all a mixed experience which may be down to complacency given its great location and previous good reviews?More
