Common Login/Account Access Issues

Forgotten Password and/or Username

Have you forgotten your password? No worries! We have a self-service Password Reset Request tool to help you regain access to your account. You will be prompted to enter your username and the email associated with your account. Once you submit your request, an email will be sent to you with a link to reset your password. If you need help creating a strong password, please follow our tips for Creating a Strong Password.

If you've forgotten your username, you can use the Forgot Your Username? form to retrieve a list of the username(s) associated with your email address.

Username reminders and password reset requests may take a few minutes to process and appear in your inbox. If you haven’t received your username reminder or password reset email, please be sure to check your spam folder. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, please Contact Support.

Lost access to the email address attached to a Twitch account

If you have lost access to the email listed on your account, please head to our Contact Page. On this page, submit your ticket by selecting Account/Login Issues -> Logging In on the Category -> Sub Category drop-down menus. Please be sure to provide us with the email address listed on your account, as well as the necessary information we ask to help us verify your account details.

Please DO NOT include your password or any personal information such as your SSN, your government IDs or your card/bank information when you submit tickets.

Haven’t received the account verification email

Email is a process we're working on. It's complicated, and traverses many systems. Occasionally our emails get blocked by email providers even before they go to your spam folders, so you may need to try these steps several times over a few days:

  1. Head over to your Settings Page.
  2. Enter a fake email address in the email field.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Refresh the page/leave and navigate back to your Settings Page.
  5. Enter your actual email address in the email field.
  6. Click Save.
If you still haven’t received the email after following these steps, we recommend adding no-reply@twitch.tv and account@twitch.tv to your allow/safe senders list to help prevent your provider from blocking emails from us.

How do I change my email address?
After logging in to your account, you can change your email address and verify on your Settings Page.
How do I know which email address the password reset was sent to?
The password reset email is sent to the verified email address tied to your Twitch account, if you don’t remember which Twitch account is tied to your email address, you can use our Forgot Username flow and enter your email address.
We highly recommend you enable 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) on your account for added security. For more information, see our 2FA setup article.
