  I tried running the .exe file a number of times and the program would not load. I am running Windows 10. I get a notice that my computer couldn't install the program and I should try again. I tried 4 or 5 times but always get an error code 0x80190194

  Summary

  The Microsoft web page says Windows Live Essentials is no longer available for download.

  Microsoft really put out anything useful other than copy everyone else? And when they do copy it's crap. I not a MAC user but Steve Jobs was right their software is really poorly written. My windows live doesn't even work. It just "non responding." I'm not surprised at all being from MS.

  Pros

  Not very much. The only plus is that Windows Live Movie Maker now supports direct record from webcam. But then you can do that with Windows XP Movie Maker 2.1 which works on Windows 7,Vista and Windows 8.

  Cons

  Windows Live Messenger not user friendly,crashes slow. Horrible Ribbon in Windows Live Photo Gallery and Live Mail.

  Foret it and stick with Windows Live Essentials 2009 instead.Microsoft are now forcing Windows 7 users to upgrade to this Windows Live Essentials 2011 version.By issuing a mandatory upgrade so now if you try to log into Messenger 209 it won't let you.If it is not set in any compatibility mode that is. But just set your Windows Live Messenger 2009 in compatibility mode for Windows XP and you WON'T get the update. Then you can stay with WLE 2009. So forget this WLE 2011 version and stick with WLE 2009 instead. Avoid this version-2011.   Pros

  Like any other new program, it takes getting used to. I have been using it for about 2 months now. Not used to the ribbons at the top. Like the drop down menus better. I have been using Outlook and subsequent followers for years, so Windows Live not too bad.

  Cons

  I am unable to view my "File Menu" across the top of the program. Apparently the means to "display file menu" are not on my program. I have researched it online and tried to follow the direction to make it display. I have no "three little icons" in the upper right hand corner" of my program which are supposed to be the path to a drop down that says "Show or Hide Menu Bar". I hesitate to unistall and reinstall the program, but I am unable to create signatures for my emails.

  Summary

  All in all, it seems to be not too bad. The program is like anything else new in life ... you have to use it to learn it. But then again, that's why I call these crazy keyboarded monsters "confusers" instead of computers!

  windows live mail is much better Thunderbird , i have used thunderbird for 5 years but , since i use live mail , i have loved it

• Can't get Live Mail to download

  I use to use Window Live Mail and it worked great

  Now it won't reinstall on my computer

  Summary

  I had to reinstall Windows Vista and now I can't get Windows Live to reinstall on my computer. Says I have to do updates and I've done all the updates I can do. I'd really like to get it back.

  Uhh I never got to them.Maybe if I had stayed with it long enough for cross platform integration as mentioned without add ons but main deal with Live Mail is deal breaker

  Just the complexity and hassles with Live Mail which is more than enough.

  Summary

  OK.First you have to be highly computer literate for setting up.Import from the previously simple but no hassle Outlook Express is a NIGHTMARE (CSV,API,CLV yadda yadda).The idea that they have the ability to design a simple integration into their own product while dropping support and need for doing all of it to export into other clients just sucks.Not only was contacts a nightmare but cloud load up means what was oe,two,three now is waaaaaiiiiiitttttt.This was an amazingly difficult product for the non-tech savvy and a total tun-off.Forcing one into new product with 7 (and the learning curve their) when they could have made it seamless is amazing.Makes me think I should have stayed with XP (though 7 is pretty niffty).Bing,their way of highway Etc etc.Staying with Mozilla or might go Chrome which though they will know everything I guess they would produce a more nimble and easy operating system.After Vista to turn off people this way is amazing.   None as windows live messenger is not in the least bit user friendly and the other stuff,live writer and mail does not work either.

  Not user friendly and live mail is just too complicated to use.

  This product is supposed to be made for Windows user but it puts Windows products to shame. I have never got on well with Windows Live messenger,the video never worked and I tried it again a few days ago and nothing has changed since I lat tried it,3 months ago. I could not make any live video or voice calls as it would not let me.It would not even let me send my contact an invite to chat.So the video messenger was useless to me. Windows live mail I cannot figure out how to use it. It asks you for your outgoing server address,.How do I know that?And then it asks for incoming server address. Well most people would not know that anyway and there was no way i could find out the info Windows live mail was asking for. Why use W. live mail anyway when you can just send an email using your normal Hotmail account or other email account like G.mail? Windows Live Writer did not work. So I uninstalled the whole thing. i have stopped using Windows Live Messenger months ago. I use Aim Messenger and this works without any problems. with Aim you just add your contact you dont even have to send or wait for an invite to chat which is great. But on W. Live you have to wait for an invite,and i did and my friend sent me an invite. But still it would not let us chat. So now if I need to talk to any one on Windows live we just use Meebo the web messenger,which lets you call anybody with no problems. Forget Windows Live and use Aim,Meebo or Google Talk instead-they work,Windows Live does not and is the most unfriendly apps on the Internet. Andrea Borman.

  Pros

  I haven't found any yet. It's hit or miss - 98% miss - that the program will even open!

  Cons

  Even on a freshly loaded machine, WLM2011 doesn't install properly. After running automatic Office updates WLM refuses to open giving an error code of 0x80041161 suggesting there is not enouugh memory or the drive is full.

  Summary

  If WLM needs more than 3 gigs of RAM or a nearly empty 500 gig drive, Microsoft better go back and learn how to write code. Additionally, it makes a mess of the registry. By the way, even a system restore can't straighten it out. If you like reformatting and reinstalling Windows and all your software, this is the product for you. Not for me though. The Microsoft forums are no help. Their "fixes" are merely guesses at try this or trying that. They don't know! They also like to blame AV software for the problem. During my latest go round with this junk, I intentionally did not install AV software. Even after I told them that, they suggested my AV software was the problem. I'm done with Dead Essentials!
