We loved loved this indoor play gym! My son wouldn't want to go home from here. They have a lot of things and for varied age groups. I would think kids from age group 1-5 would enjoy this place. There is a trampoline here, beach area with real sand, slides, toys, trains and a lot more. Check out for yourself to explore more. During summers this place is super crowded so we typically go during winter.

How did I not find this place sooner! Attended a birthday party here. The party was held earlier then usual, 10:30am. It was a 2 hour event; yet more then enough time for all to enjoy.
Upon arrival, you sign a waiver. You're then guided to where you can leave your child's shoes and you're shoes. Totally love that parents too much take there shoes off to enter the area. Was informed that those who didn't bring socks had the option to purchase them there. After about an hour of play, kids were called into a room to have lunch. After lunch kids were allowed to go right back out and continue enjoying the fun.
This place is totally tailored to a younger crowd, especially toddlers! Here you'll find sensory areas, ball pits, gym play area, dramatic play centers and developmental toys.
Workers were great and only steps away in guiding us to whatever was needed.
Can't wait to return!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Feb 15, 2022
Such an awesome place! And contrary to Google, they are open on Saturday. I was Fortunate to come on a weekday morning and we were the only ones there. The owner is very nice and friendly, made the effort to know my child's name and to interact with him. It's a nice place complete with a large indoor play structure, costumes to wear, play kitchen, large sand box, and many other play stations as well as a baby area and princess area. I really liked how they had a separate toddler bathroom with tiny toilet, tiny urinal and tiny sink. They also have more snack and food options than most places, including lots of bubble tea flavors, dumplings, paninis and Nutella snacks. I ordered the Mac and cheese, chicken tenders, various snacks and bbq chicken panini since they were out of the basil pesto sandwich. I also ordered the Taro bubble tea. Now the one negative- they FILLED the cup of Bubble tea with large ice cubes, resulting in much less of the actual tea and making it very hard to get the boba in the straw. Since they have a pretty decent selection of things, and no one goes to an indoor playspace for the food, I'll forgive this and keep the 5 star rating as everything else was above and beyond.

This is a nice play space to bring your kids to. The area is relatively big and there's no doubt all the children I saw seemed to really enjoy their time there. There's a big sandbox, ball pit and also a large slide that keeps them occupied. They also have plenty of toys and a nice small indoor trampoline that was quite popular.
There's a cafe area that also is a great place to keep parents occupied. The make some nice boba slushees and the taro flavored one that I tried was pretty awesome. It also probably had a ton of calories but it does make sense to sugar up I suppose to keep up with the kids that are running around the place.
Generally the place is fairly clean considering how high-trafficked it is. There's also a decent-sized parking lot and the proximity to I-80 is pretty convenient as well.
The variety of toys and distractions make for a fun time for your toddler that's brimming with energy.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Kitty W.Ridgewood, NJ333488917Jan 13, 2023
My 14mo had fun but I'm not sure how I really feel. The great story is average sized and is very roomy on a weekday when there aren't a lot of kids. However, I find the space to be lacking. There's not enough play areas for different age groups and the ball pit is dangerously small when kids slide down. Luckily we kept baby near the edge away from the slide because big kids were just shooting down and smashing into each other. The Atmosphere for a play space was also very gloomy. This place feels like a solid 3.5 to me but what brings it down to 3 on Yelp is the discomfort I felt with the cashier/reception. She was very cold and we felt very unwelcome and like nuisances when we asked her simple questions as it was our first time. We didn't feel better until a kinder Korean man took over to explain to us the entry fees and timing, etc. I noticed her being cold and bland the whole hour we were there and I felt very uncomfortable each time I caught her eye.

I absolutely love this play place, and so do my kids. Thank goodness it's close to our house. For the month of August we have been going once a week. It's a great place to hide inside in the AC when it's just so so hot out (or if it's raining).
My daughter loves everything about this place. She loves digging in the enormous sand pit and playing with all the different sand toys. She loves the different toy stations where you can play with cars on a track. The table where you can play with dinosaurs or safari animals. She loves the play kitchen, the big doll house, the even bigger castle, the dress up clothes, the puzzle and book corner, the trampoline and she is even starting to enjoy the climbing structure.
This place is also perfect for my almost one year old. They have a toddler room, with toys that are perfect for him. Toys that light up. Toys that move around. And his favorite - the activity door. Because, I mean, who doesn't love to open and close a door 500 times? The Great Story also has a small padded play area by the trampoline that has padded stairs and blocks. He loves to sit in there and play with everything.
I am a very anxious mom who always assumes someone is going to try to take her children. Having this safe area where my daughter can run around and my son can crawl around in different locations in the big room really puts me at ease. Also, like other people have pointed out, the staff is extremely friendly. They usually have someone on the floor cleaning up or keeping an eye on the children. I had a quick scare moment of, "where did my daughter go?" One staff member saw me looking around and pointed to the ball pit where my daughter was happily playing.
We always have a little snack and drink between playing and the prices are very reasonable. Thank you The Great Story for a safe, happy play place for my children to enjoy themselves and help expel some energy.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0 - Aug 7, 2017
My friend and I took our kids here for a day of play. Personally I thought this play place was very clean and organized. My daughter had a wonderful time playing here.
There is a sand area where the kids wear a jumper of sorts and are then cleaned off. There's another area with pebbles and some toys. My daughter enjoyed the doll houses and the dress up clothes as well.
I will definitely be back here in the near future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 196351832Apr 23, 2017
Hackensack's hidden gem.
Talk about a clean place for kids. When we arrived I noticed there was quite a few people but not how Chuck E. Cheese is. They had a lot of tables with actually, comfortable chairs. There is a large Korean menu in English and another language I think maybe Korean? They sell hello kitty stuff for kids.
Anyway, they have an area with princess dresses and police costumes and such for the boys all neatly hung up. They have an indoor play structure like the pictures you have probably checked out. There's trains, books, legos- now my favorite part (and my kids) was the indoor sandbox.
This sandbox is not one you would see with cat poop in it. This is a very clean indoor sandbox. The owners of this facility have the kids put on an apron type thing over their clothes before entering and upon exiting have an air compressor type thing that you blow the sand off your kid before they leave the sandbox area. Genius! My kids loved sitting in the sandbox area for most of the time playing together with other kids and toys.
There is a ball pit and another section that had some really tiny square beads that I suppose is like another sensory section with a kitchen but that was NOT my favorite. Stepping on those beads felt similar to when your kid leaves Legos on the floor and you step on one. Not pleasant.
I want to give another shout out to this place for having another good idea. You see when you go places with your kids they usually want you to match stamps or stickers to keep them safe upon exiting. This place takes your shoes. That's right. You don't get your shoes back (you need those right?!) unless you show them your wristband to exit. I think it was pretty smart.
I took one star away because it was expensive. I paid $29 for two kids for one hour. That's too much. I might come back if I got a discount or if I was desperate for my kids to get energy out on a cold day. I do like this place though. Very nice and clean.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Sep 18, 2018
This is one of the cleanest indoor play spaces that you'll probably find around here.
First of all, I'm sure most parents will agree that you can never find enough activities for a hyperactive toddler. At some point, you start to run out of fun things for them to do, as they start to grow bored of some of the same old places. That's where places like The Great Story come in.
Yes, you'll pay for your little one to come in, but this place really does offer good bang for your buck. The sand pit alone might be worth the price of admission.
The employees here are attentive and seem like they genuinely care about the kids here. The way this place is laid out lets your kid run from activity to activity seamlessly.
Overall, a solid addition to any parent's repertoire of kid play spaces.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
