Agnes Solms-Laubach was a member of the aristocracy in Europe.

Biography

Agnes zu Solms-Laubach was born 7 January 1578,[1] at Laubach,[2] the fifth child and eldest daughter of Johann Georg I, Count of Solms-Laubach, and his wife Margarethe von Schönburg-Glauchau.[3]

She married 23 September 1593 at Kassel, as his first wife, [2] Moritz, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel,[1]; and had the following issue;[4];

  1. Otto, born 24 December 1594 at Kassel, Hereditary Landgrave, who died before his father;
  2. Elisabeth, born 24 March 1596 at Kassel, married Johann Albrecht II, Duke of Mecklenburg-Güstrow;
  3. Child stillborn at Melsungen 24 January 1597;
  4. Child stillborn in August 1599;
  5. Moritz, born 14 July 1600 at Kassel, Coadjutor of Abbey of Hersfeld from 10 August 1608, died at Kassel 11 August 1612;
  6. Wilhelm V, born 13 February 1602 at Kassel, succeeded his father as Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel.

Agnes died 23 November 1602 at Laubach and was buried there.[2] Her husband married 6 months later, his second wife, Juliane, Countess of Nassau-Siegen.[1]; [2]
