Just in case this might be something someone might wanna watch in before a certain miniseries…

Sidenote: this was shot by Robert Elswit?? And he previously worked with Emmanuel Lubezki and the guy who shot Thief?? unreal

Everyone should watch Gigli. It's not a normal bad movie, it's a psychopathic nightmare. In every moment you can see the weird dark comedy Martin Brest is trying and failing to make AND the breezy summer hit that Columbia is trying and failing to turn it into, like two people loudly trying to talk to you at once. Singlehandedly sold me on a Brest series.

Sold

Now I understand why this movie drove people insane.

TIL that the man who directed Midnight Run also directed Gigli. That's a McTiernan level of difference in quality across a career.

It’s got such a great skeleton covered with rotting meat. Material that arrived already poorly aged. It should have killed Justin Bartha’s career.

But boy I do have a crush on dumbass Ben Affleck in this. I love how you can watch his brain struggle to understand JLo bonding with Lainie Kazan (Affleck’s mother) over lesbian experiences.

Gobble Gobble.

The Al Pacino and Christopher Walken scenes are worth the price of admission alone. Just a mind melting experience top to bottom.

Ah well, it's a good thing I own it on DVD. Two years ago, I found a sealed copy at a thrift store and I knew what I needed to do.
