There is nothing more frustrating and infuriating when you are betrayed by the people that you least expect to do it, especially when they do it for themselves or you don’t know the reason behind it. However, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. That is the best fuel for inflicting vengeance upon the people behind it, and a good motivator for making yourself stronger.

Unlike your typical forgiving characters, this list mostly consists of MCs where they don’t care about morality and decide to throw everything for the sake of revenge. Without further ado, here is the list where MC gets betrayed but gets overpowered afterward.

Deadman Wonderland is a series of games between life and death. Betrayals are to be expected in this kind of theme because it shows the true nature of each human involved in these kinds of dangerous games.

If you are a fan of the Battle Royale survival theme, this is perfect for your tastes. Aside from the main character focusing on revenge, you will enjoy more about his strategies in fighting and his unexpected ways of survival.

What stands out in this series is the fact that Ikki is not only a one-dimensional character who is driven by revenge. But instead, he is able to enjoy the different aspects of being a normal young man.

When they were doing a dungeon raid, his classmates betrayed him and he fell to the bottom. Because of this, a strong desire for vengeance is born and Hajime sets his goal to be the strongest. 

Trust is a fragile thing. Once you betray someone, you will never know what they have hidden against you in the future.

If you get into this series, I can guarantee you that the betrayals from this show will leave your mouth hanging. So, you better be ready to pay attention and predict who betrays whom even though it’s entirely unpredictable.

Yuki is a wimpy kid who is always scared in every situation which can be sometimes annoying. But a certain betrayal made his character development astounding and made him a cold person who doesn’t hesitate to commit massacres for the sake of his goal.

It’s really hard to tell the betrayal part of this anime as it is part of the mystery. So if you are genuinely curious, you better buckle up because the main character will be someone you will like to see.

Seraph of the End takes an unconventional route of storytelling for a Shounen series where they get betrayed and get overpowered as the series progresses.

It’s hard to imagine if someone is using your body as payment without your consent, especially from your parents. It is indeed infuriating to know that you are already betrayed the moment you are born. Hyakkimaru starts his journey as he slowly collects his body parts until he becomes OP to actually stop whatever demons are facing him. It is natural to take back what is yours. 

 

5. Devilman Crybaby

The betrayal here is a huge plot twist so I can’t tell you anything about it. Aside from that, please be cautious because this is one of the most brutal and grotesque anime shows out there like Berserk.

The entire anime is just a prologue for Bam’s actual beginning on his journey to become OP as hell after a certain huge betrayal he faced.

Berserk is a classic anime and manga that is about finding what you wanted to do in life aside from revenge. This series is one of the classic masterpieces. Unfortunately, we will never see his revenge because the creator had passed away. However, you will still enjoy this as one of the greatest fictions written.

Despite their survival, they don’t know the history behind the Titans. Eren, the main character, is a young man who dreams to see the different natural landscapes that can be seen outside the wall. But one day, he witnessed a horrible loss when the Titans suddenly attacked their city and his mother was getting eaten by a Titan. Because of this, Eren dedicated his life to wiping out all titans in existence. 

Attack on Titan has a very good balance between its mystery and revenge story. However, the betrayal aspect in this series is a huge plot twist that reveals everything about their world. The betrayal part is up for you to watch because it’s one of the best anime betrayals you will ever witness, and the revenge part will take you a long time, so you better be patient.

Are you intrigued by the stories of the characters here? Well, I can say the one thing that is common about these main characters is that they don’t succumb to madness when they get betrayed. Instead, they get stronger and use it as fuel for their vengeance and development. Moreover, it can also deepen the plot of the show because it adds motivation for the conflict and conclusion of the story.
