The intricate ways in which he intertwines motifs for characters and relationships the way he marries themes of suspense and dread to deeply heartfelt romantic yearning — it’s magical. And the sheer amount of music he writes for each episode is astounding! I cannot imagine True Blood without Nate’s score which has become a character in its own right. — Alan Ball A Note From The Composer Season Two of True Blood is completely insane in the very best of ways. Whether it’s blackeyed orgies cannibalism or an oversize pig all roads lead back to Maryann! And if we learn anything at all we learn that with a Maenad on the loose absolutely anything is possible. Musically a detuned plucked Psaltery seemed to me just the thing for Maryann coupled with some slippery gourd cello lines and my own wailing vocals to top it off. In addition to the bizarre Season Two also introduces us to Sam’s tragic past to a growing bond between Sookie and Eric to Eric’s maker Godric and to Bill’s maker Lorena all of which provided for wonderful musical explorations. As always my experience working with Alan Ball and his creative team has been a blessing and as I near completion on Season Three I keep wondering when I’m going to wake up from this beautiful dream! I bought the first score soundtrack for True Blood and really enjoyed it. The second soundtrack is a great companion to the first. It does a great job of building on the music from the first season. My only complaint is the CD is 30 minutes. For the price, I expected an hour of music; especially since the previous CD's I've bought from VareseSarabande have been around an hour for a single disc. The art booklet was also very simplistic. I would recommend buying the MP3 version, if variable, over the CD version.
So it might me being biased but I cant think of any of Nathans work that I dont enjoy. I put this on when I am painting or just laying about. Or if I had a bad day at work or something. Good mellow, dark, music. Calms you right down.

Nathan Barr's moody instrumentals are the soul of the series, and today's NEW release of music from season 2 is superbly dark and evocative work. More distinctly attached to key scenes than Barr's first collection, the season 2 soundtrack is moody drone-zone for an aural reminder of what makes the magic happen: these sounds. Classic undertones, contemporary stylings, gothic imagery: Wonderfully creepy, morose and ideal for that next seance.
The one thing I was looking forward to was the prospect of hearing Maenad's Delight. The rhythmic, sensual, and eerie compilation of drums and other instruments that always accompanied Mary Ann's wild orgies. One of the most important themes for the season's antagonist, and yet it doesn't make it onto the score? Absolutely ridiculous. 0 stars.
Cette bande originale retrace parfaitement la saison 2 de Trueblood.
Le nom du titre de chaque piste correspond au moment de la série. On retrouve avec bonheur les moments clés : la relation de Jessica et Hoyt, la fête de Marianne...
Ce qui est agréable aussi, c'est la variété de musique, que l'on ressent mieux qu'avec la 1ère bande originale.
Bref, je le recommande vivement, surtout aux plus grands fans de la série.
A noter que le cd se finit sur la superbe musique de la mort de Godric.
This cd is not for me, but it's my own fault as didn't realise it was just the actual bespoke music written for the series as an instrumental. You'd really need to be an obsessed fan for this one
