Green is the color of most living things, and the color green marries easily with all other colors. The same is true with the zodiac sign Cancer, who is extremely sensitive to his environment, and tenderly nurtures the people surrounding him. Green embodies balance, the Cancer sign is the epitome of emotional stability, and the Cancer birthstone, emerald, believed to carry this power for emotional well-being.

Moonstone
A well-known astrological birthstone for Cancer in both Western and Hindu astrology, moonstone was rightfully accorded its place in modern gemology as birthstone for the month of June, where traditionally the gemstone was treated as June birthstone only in the Tibetan calendar. This Cancer birthstone is an opalescent variety of the feldspar group of minerals.
Ancient belief over the occurrence of moonstone plays a special part in the Cancer gemstone’s association with the zodiac sign. This birthstone of Cancer was believed to be the solidified rays of the moon, and though the contemporary person knows otherwise, moonstone still reflects that opalescent glow that is so reminiscent of the moon at night. The moon is the ruling planet of Cancer, and moonstone, being closely associated with the moon, is deemed to be the planetary stone for Cancer. Pearl
Pearl is a Cancer birthstone, in both Western and Vedic astrology, that also reminds people of the moon. White round pearls are the birthstone for June in both the Ayurvedic (old Indian) calendar and the Arabic, and this Cancer birthstone has kept its place as June birthstone in the contemporary Hindu calendar, as well as the modern Western calendar. Unlike other gemstones, this Cancer stone is a product, not of geological activity, but of marine mollusks, who coat sand or other foreign irritation that had lodged itself inside their shell, giving birth to the shiny round Cancer gemstone. The lucky stone for Cancer is believed to strengthen relationships and marriage, as well as keep children safe.
Aventurine
Aventurine is Cancer birthstone according to author D. J. Conway. Beside white, green is Cancer’s color, making aventurine a fitting birthstone for Cancer, as well as an inexpensive yet beautiful alternative for emerald. Aventurine is a variety of chalcedony known for its shimmering iridescence caused by platy inclusions. Chalcedony
In the ancient Arabic, Polish and Russian calendars, chalcedony is a birthstone for July, in which month Cancer people are born. The opaque to translucent variety of quartz, chalcedony itself is deeply associated with the Cancer zodiac sign. Though actually occurring in numerous varieties including carnelian, onyx and chrysoprase, the name chalcedony commonly refers to white, bluish white or blue chalcedony.
This birthstone for Cancer is attributed with roughly the same metaphysical properties as moonstone. Chalcedony is believed to absorb only positive energy, and repel negativity as well as nightmares. While we are accustomed to think of silver as metal, not stone, silver is a naturally occurring element in nature. And silver is the lucky metal of Cancer, as gold is to Leo.
