    New London ― A crowd gathers to watch as Environmental Artist Robert Wyland and his team return to work on the “Whaling Wall” along Eugene O’Neill Drive in New London on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

    Wyland originally painted the 175-foot-long by 35-foot-high “Great Sperm Whale” mural 30 years ago. He worked with his team to repaint it over the weekend after it heavily deteriorated over the years.

    Wyland will put finishing touches to the mural on Monday, April 3 with a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m.
