A trip down memory lane

My mom gave me the tape of this album for Christmas when I was a teenager. She knew it would be a favorite since we always liked John McCutcheon. It sure has some great songs on it. I've seen Mr. McCutcheon in concert so many times now that he knows me by name. At almost every one of those concerts I've heard "Christmas in the Trenches." This is a WWI song, about a story that is not only true, but well known throughout Europe. I gave my Mom this CD for christmas both to bring back memories, and also since we lost the tape, and not really any equipment anymore to play them on.

All in all, this is a wonderful recording to own. And if you like it, by all means, buy all John McCutcheon's other albums. You won't go wrong on any of them.

After loving McCutcheon's "Christmas in the Trenches" for years, I finally bought the CD and am SOOOOO glad I did. That song alone makes the CD worth the purchase. Another gem is "Detroit Christmas". And the instrumental numbers are soothing and calming in this hectic holiday season.

I read some of the glowing reviews and ordered this CD. I really like John McCuthcheon, but this is not at all what I expected from one of the great folk-singers. Just light dulcimer elevator type music on this CD. Only song worth listening to is Christmas in the Trenches. The rest is just not very much of anything other than light tapping on a dulcimer. If you like that type of stuff, then go for it. I like to hear songs with actual lyrics.
