About Us
THE REAL REAL GONE STORY
In 1993, two Ohio boys, Gordon Anderson and Gabby Castellana, both separately started businesses—Collectors' Choice Music and Hep Cat Records --that were to become two of the most important outlets for buyers and sellers of vintage music recordings. Now, 18 years later, they have joined forces to launch Real Gone Music, a reissue label dedicated to serving both the collector community and the casual music fan with a robust release schedule combining big-name artists with esoteric cult favorites.
Real Gone Music is a music company dedicated to combing the vaults for sounds that aren't just gone—they're REAL GONE.
What makes a piece of music real gone? It can be from any era, any genre, from superstar acts or the most overlooked artist—but if it's REAL GONE, it's an essential recording coming to you with excellent sound and packaging, designed to make you feel like you did the first time you bought an album or single at your local record store.
And, unique among American indie reissue labels, our release schedule is going to feature about ten titles per month. Because there is still a lot of music out there to rediscover, savor and celebrate.
"Get real gone…for a change!"

Editorial Reviews
By special arrangement with Blue Öyster Cult and it's management, Real Gone Music is thrilled to present, for the first time on CD, the band's complete July 24, 1983 concert at Perkins Palace in Pasadena, CA. Originally recorded for radio broadcast, this was long regarded as one of the best-sounding BÖC bootlegs, and now it is finally coming out on authorized physical form, complete with liner notes by Scott Schinder and rare photos. Further confirmation that Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser is one of America's great, unsung guitar heroes (don't miss the 10-minute, concert-closing version of "Roadhouse Blues")!

Deliberate deception!!!!!
"a Long Days Night" is a fantastic Live BOC DVD, but I don't need to buy it again deciefully renamed.
Truth be told, I've never been a huge fan of Blue Oyster Cult, but this Real Gone release was priced right from the label itself, and the reputation of this show was such that I figured if I were to own one CD of their work, this ought to be it -- and I was right. This was a show for which everyone was playing on all cylinders and the tapes managed to capture it all, first-rate from start to finish, and I've listened to it three times the first day I've had it (that's a great testimonial for a release by a band none of whose albums have I ever gone through from start to finish).
Well worth picking up as this IS a show that features the band in top form. Here’s hoping that Real Gone releases the rest of them too.
It's nice getting almost the full set of songs the Cult played that night (just missing one song) as opposed to the official heavily edited CD release of this that came out a few years ago in conjunction with the official DVD, but the sound quality of this "grey area" release leaves much to be desired to my ears.
Instead of sounding like a live album mixed down from a multitrack source, at best it sounds like a straight board feed recorded the night of the show, probably either mono or stereo at best, "mixed" (if you can call it that) on the fly at the soundboard during the show, perhaps even just a P.A. feed, but not meant for a real commercial release. The vocal/instrument balance is poor (Buck's guitar especially is too low in the mix).
Disappointing.

Setlist: 8/10. Would be better if they left out “cover tunes”. But that’s what some bands did in the 80s, I guess. Decent, though.
Performance of Songs: 8.5/10. The band sounds tight and to my knowledge, no overdubs were done to this recording. In some regards, it sounds better than Extraterrestrial Live. Tall task, considering this is basically a bootleg.
Sound Quality: 8/10. Close to the more “official” live albums with studio overdubs, but not quite as good. Good, though. Way better than you might expect.
Auf der DoCD "Live In Chicago" befinden sich im Gegensatz zur "A Long Day's Night"-CD somit 6 zusätzliche Songs (alle ausnahmslos BÖC-Klassiker wie "ME 262", "E.T.I.", "Harvester Of Eyes", etc.) und eine sehr lange und ausgesprochen geile Fassung des Songs "The Last Days of May" (anstatt "Astronomy").
Buy it and enjoy the music !!!
