Jane Fonda, an acclaimed actress also known for being an outspoken activist, was honored with a lifetime-achievement award at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.
The Cecil B. DeMille Award is given every year to someone who has made a lasting impact on the world of entertainment. The last three winners have been Tom Hanks, Jeff Bridges and Oprah Winfrey.
"For more than five decades, Jane's breadth of work has been anchored in her unrelenting activism, using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of our time," said Ali Sar, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "Her undeniable talent has gained her the highest level of recognition, and while her professional life has taken many turns, her unwavering commitment to evoking change has remained."
Fonda has won seven Golden Globes during her career, as well as two Academy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award.
