The Fireside Inn On Moonstone Beach is frequently celebrated for its prime location near the beach and its renovated rooms that boast ocean views and cozy fireplaces. Guests have called out the clean, modern accommodations, though some have experienced issues with noise and a lack of certain amenities, like microwaves and air conditioning. While the staff's friendliness is often praised, the service has received mixed reviews, with occasional criticisms regarding responsiveness. Travelers warn that the value may be diminished by the high costs and additional charges for services.

Fireside Inn was a wonderful romantic getaway for two. The staff was very helpful and the room was just perfect! We were celebrating our 32nd anniversary. We loved the town of Cambria and their restaurants. Our trip was a very quiet and peaceful one. We hit town just before Spring Break so no waiting in lines for anything! We will be back!

We drove up to Cambria for our anniversary and had booked this place months in advance which was good because it was full. We were given room 127, which had a little patio with two wicker chairs that had a great view of the ocean. There is a road to cross to get to the ocean but very light traffic. The room was cozy and had all of the usual amenities including a jet tub in the bathroom. My only caution is that if you are a senior citizen be careful because the tub is a little high to climb in and out of. We stayed Friday and Sat night and just enjoyed the quiet. You can walk the boardwalk to overlooking the beach for wonderful views. We did not get the breakfast delivered as we figured it would be expensive but drove about 20 miles up the coast to Ragged point. The downtown area is a short drive with many shops and restaurants, and there is one within walking distance. We had a very pleasant stay thanks to the friendly desk crew Violet, Julli, and Jonah. Remember that due to Covid you do not have housekeeping between days that you stay but you can just go to the office for supplies.

Make your reservations early as this is a popular beach location, close to water and restaurants, friendly and helpful staff. We were moved from our first location where while very quiet, it was too dark after coming to enjoy Cambria. Armando, the Front Desk Receptionist helped us find a room that worked, a big thanks to him since it was obvious that the place was almost filled. I've stayed here before, with my husband as well as with a getaway with a dear friend, so know that both types of rooms, Double Queen or Kind are well appointed. There are few Kings, so once again, get your reservation as soon as you can if you're in need of a King. I'm campaigning to end the powdered artificial creamers in hotels - how can you update your coffee maker, update your coffee and still use that stuff? I was prepared this time and purchased h&h before we came home from dinner that first night.
As for Dining, We've been to Madelines, (with reserations) and the Sea Chest ( no reservations taken) for dinner Both are very good though in my opinion Madelines was so dark that I had to turn on my phone flashlight to order and sort of missed out on seeing my food. Saw there were additional lights strung around the ceiling and wondered why they weren't on. Sea Chest is a trip, you wait in line that starts early and end up talking to a bunch of people you never saw before - fun! Sea Chest is cash only so come prepared!
I recommend Cambria for a first foray to travel after Covid. Nothing quite like walking a windy beach to watch the sun set to be at peace. Everyone I saw wore masks, even on the beach which isn't necessary any longer, especially when you're at least feet away from another human, but we wore them to fit in.
I recommend the Fireside Inn and thank them for a lovely time!

This hotel was the last stop on our 2 week road trip. We stayed in 7 different hotels and 1 AirBnB and the Fireside Inn was by far the worst and most expensive. Our room was clean but the furnishing are old and dull. We specifically booked this hotel because of promised air conditioning (sometimes needed even on the coast) but all we got was a fan. The bathroom water pressure was extremely low and made showering/teeth brushing tedious. There was no coffee pot in the room because the staff did not want to sanitize it after we left. All of our other hotels (Best Western and Holiday Inn) had coffee makers and microwaves. The outside patio was nice but very close to the next room's patio so there was no privacy. The view is great but it doesn't make up for all the other problems.

The view is spectacular! That's about it! This property is due for an overhaul. Check in was lackluster and we were informed about the expensive breakfast that could be delivered and a list of restaurants that might be open or might deliver was also given. We let that slide due to Covid travel precautions; it's got to be impossible to keep up on that changing information. When we got to the room, we were delighted with our ocean front view and the patio chairs. The downfall to the ocean front rooms are that they're pretty close together so when your neighbor is smoking out on the patio, the smoke is shared by all. The room was clean. None of the lights worked with the wall switches so it took a while to figure out which lamps were broken or not synched to turn on at all. The Jacuzzi tub in the room just a part of the bathroom and one has to crawl over the tall sides to access the shower. There are no grab bars to assist in this. The worst part of our stay is the fact that we had absolutely no housekeeping service. We left in the morning for a hike then returned. No clean up. We left for a few hours to eat lunch then returned, no clean up. We had to ask for clean towels and the desk staff "couldn't get to it" and they'd bring them to our room. After we returned from dinner, a stack of towels was sitting on our outdoor table near our door. For the amount that is charged for this room, it would be nice to have things tidied up. If they were short-staffed or had problems internally, just say something and make an offer to help us enjoy our stay. We won't return to Fireside, there are many choices on Moonstone Beach.

Hello SmithFamFour, We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to share your experience here at Fireside Inn. Surely, I am not impressed with the way we handled your situation and completely agree that we should have paid more attention to the sensitivity of your expectations and, at the very least, communicated with you that we are actually not providing housekeeping service to occupied rooms due to Covid precautions. Unfortunately, it seems we failed for you a number of times and for that I apologize. I can assure you Fireside Inn prides itself on embodying a much higher standard and catering to our guests needs to the very best of our ability. I hope you may consider us again in the future so that we may properly demonstrate this for you. Until then, we wish you the best. Cordially, Dylan Saladino Assistant General Manager

I reserved a room here with huge asperations. I called and reserved a room for two nights (Friday and Saturday). Saturday I was going to purpose to my girlfriend which I mentioned to the staff over the phone. I was congratulated and they offered a bottle of white wine to celebrate. I asked to make sure that my room included a patio since all the pictures show one, I was assured that it did include a patio. Upon arrival I noticed a huge stain under the toilet seat, after walking around the room I noticed it didn't have a patio, just a single window facing a dirt plot, and very dirty carpet. I went back and asked Will why I have a room without a patio and he said that's how it was booked and offered me a breakfast credit (most overrated and unacceptable breakfast you could imagine). I had asked that the bottle of white wine be saved until Saturday afternoon, they said of course but it never arrived. I called Sunday morning to request a late checkout of 12 P.M. since checkout was 11 A.M., the response was a rude "I can only do 11:30". You'd think for nearly $800.00 for two nights that you'd get at least one thing requested. This was by far the worse deal on the entire central coast and a huge disappointment to what I was hoping to be a romantic weekend. I will never stay at this property again and please do not be fooled by the websites photos because they are incredibly misleading. Cambria is such a beautiful place but this property and the staff serving deserve lower than a one star rating.

Seeing that the room were remodeled recently we decided to check it out while taking advantage of Pacifica's Black Friday sale. The room was nice and roomy but wished it had a microwave. Had a decent size fridge and a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee pouches. We remembered to bring our own creamer. We had the ocean front patio king and it was nice having our separate patio (Unit 204).

Moonstone beach was right across the street.

The front desk staff were nice and so were the housekeeping staff whenever we asked for extra towels, sheets, and coffee.

Didn't have any problems finding parking.

Internet speed was decent. Had no problems streaming a movie at night on our tablet. The TV in the room was a decent size and had the HBO channels.

The room got really cold at night but fortunately they have portable heaters guests can borrow which made it comfortable at night. Also had to put a towel at the bottom of the door as it was very drafty. There was a gas fireplace but did little to keep the room warm. The last two places we stayed at in Cambria and Morro Bay had digital fireplaces that were also heaters that did a pretty good job at keeping the room warm.

We wish there was a table in the unit or at least a coffee table in front of the sofa where we eat. We brought our own food as there is no breakfast service like we had at other places on the Moonstone beach.

Overall, it was nice stay and the room was really nice but, will probably somewhere else the next time we are in Cambria

Could not get a direct answer as to the nightly charges for the room. Ended up paying in excess of $350 PER NIGHT for a room that was cramped, worn, dirty carpet, fireplace a joke, however comfortable bed and great view from outside patio (apparently worth several hundred dollars a night). No breakfast, however at "our convenience" we were allowed 18% for a service charge, $5.00 deliver charge and all we had to do was post $50 dollars, additionally to our room rip off fee. Two years ago we had a great experience at this same Inn, rated a 10. What happened?? Rank the current facility at a 1 or 2 out of 10 being the best. We will NEVER set foot on this property again!!!.

Love to stay anywhere on Moonstone Beach and this place was quite nice as well. We were able to take advantage of the fireplace in the room. The room was a decent size-plenty of room. The continental breakfast was okay. They leave this room open until 10 pm so if you have leftovers or something you wanted heated in the microwave, it’s available. They sell a few local bottle of wines in the lobby as well if you don’t want to get in the car and drive to the nearest store or winery.

When I called to make the reservation, we were promised a large corner room with two windows and a sofa bed. When we arrived, tired after a long drive, we were told the hotel was under renovation and the room which was pictured was not available. We were shown a different view with a view of trees blocking the ocean and no sofa bed. It was dark and dingy. So we asked for a different room, and we were given one that was so small you could not sit on the bed and open the dresser at the same time. It was very small and scruffy. The upholstery on the chairs was thread bare, with the stuffing showing through in spots. The tub looked like it had not been caulked in years. There was no patio as promised, only two chairs on the narrow sidewalk. When I opened the night stand drawer, dirt came flying out of the folder. We were promised a bottle of wine since we were celebrating my birthday, but there was none in either room.

Unlike other hotels on the same beach, breakfast is NOT included! Since our room did not have a Microwave, we were directed to the community room which had one. I was going to put our ice packs in the freezer of that room's refrigerator, and when I opened it, it was full of mold! Disgusting!

Why weren't we notified that the hotel was under renovation and many rooms closed off? There were dumpsters and construction materials everywhere. The website is very misleading.

The only nice thing I can say is that they let us check out and find another, lovely hotel, without penalty the next morning. We regretted paying for the one night at such a high rate: a Motel 6 would have been better. I am glad this awful first night did not ruin our entire trip, but it certainly was a huge disappointment.
