I very much enjoyed my time at Missouri State University. The undergraduate program I was enrolled in did a great job at preparing me for graduate school. Most of my professors were very involved and willing to help us out however they could. They all seem quite passionate about their job which made a big difference. The university itself provided lots of student activities and ways to plug in and get involved. Overall, I am pleased with my experience at MSU.
My experience with MSU is complicated. On one hand, the campus life was very fun, I made a lot of good friends, there are always events going on for the students to get involved in, and the classes were always relevant to the degrees the students were in. So on one hand, things at MSU were very good. On the other hand however, the faculty is the weak spot in the school. I don't want to bad mouth any of my professors or the head of the departments, but some of the decisions they made were strange. So if I could change anything it would be that there is a little more oversight with some of the professors.
Missouri State University is a very professional and affordable university. The professors and employees are very approachable. There are many areas on campus where you can walk and enjoy the outdoors. I really enjoy the fountain by the library.
Missouri State is in the central part of town, so not far off campus you see a lot of homeless/drug using population. There are efforts being made to improve this but it is something to be aware of.

I highly recommend attendance at Missouri State University. The advisors are well trained and efficient in working with students to find the best path. The professors are organized and helpful. There are plenty of resources for additional help as needed. The buildings are clean and easy to navigate. Quite a bit of the course work is online these days, as well as the textbooks. As an older student not up to date on computers this was a challenge. I would recommend a resource for help with that, but it was not terribly difficult to learn and adjust. Overall, very pleased with my first year as a transfer student and looking forward to the remainder of my time at MSU.
If you're looking for a good state university with moderate tuition rates, it isn't a bad school. Some of the professors are wonderful; others are not. It's important to check other student reviews before signing up for classes, and be aware that if you graduate in a specialized field, the city may not have an open position for you in the job field.
I love downtown Springfield and the surrounding area. It’s very affordable and homey. Campus is nice, but a little unsafe at times.
The College of Natural and Applied Sciences challenges students to be confident, competent, and innovative researchers in their field.
Missouri State University brought many opportunities for me and how I want to set up my future, constantly making sure I can push myself to the best of my ability and create success in all outcomes.
I enjoyed my experience at Missouri State University, but after going for 4 years I am ready to leave.
Campus is super nice and safe, but not too far off campus is a quite dangerous area. Student life is fun, with lots of opportunities for networking and getting involved.
I don't necessarily regret attending Missouri State University, as I've had a couple of great opportunities over the years, but I do have my regrets. My issues are primarily with administration and accessibility to all students. I would like to see the administration value fine arts and humanities programs and stop the tokenization of minority groups WITHOUT adequately valuing those same minority groups.
I was born and raised in Springfield, MO. Missouri State University (SMSU at the time I graduated) was just the right size for me. It was a very nice and safe campus with beautiful grounds. I had excellent instructors, and I greatly enjoyed getting my undergraduate degree from MSU.
Missouri State University has a very nice campus and nice student living environments. I have had a positive experience with almost all of my professors. I have been in both in-person and online courses that have been executed well. This is a great "value" institution to attend—it is very affordable comparatively to other colleges in the state (and compared to state schools generally), and it can provide students with a fulfilling and opportunity-filled college experience.
I love the environment of Missouri State. I always feel welcome and no matter the circumstance. I would love to recommend Missouri State to anyone that is considering. I like how friendly everyone is and there is plenty to do when you aren't working on school.
I transferred from a small community college with my Associates Degree in Psychology. I was a little intimidated by a giant campus, so I opted for online schooling. This was one of the best decisions I have made. If you have a question, you will get an email with a very helpful answer in less than a day. All the staff and professors have taken away any fear or uneasiness I had about transferring to such a large school.
I am transferring to Missouri State in the Fall of 2024, but I attend Drury University and have tons of friends who go there. I am always on campus hanging out or studying with them and I love it. The community is very welcoming and the campus is beautiful. My friends have said good things about the teachers and classes as well.
I loved my time at Missouri State University. I attended a small, private high school and this was the perfect next step for me. It was a big school with a small school feeling. I remember feeling secure on my tour once we started circling back to familiar sites. The student life and academics were a perfect blend for me following high school. I could be as involved as I wanted. It was so nice to have complete control over my college experience.
I truly love Missouri State University. MSU's campus makes me feel extremely safe and is an overall welcoming environment. Missouri State University is where I am able to connect with my peers and it allows me to further develop my skills. I wouldn't choose any other school over this one in a million years.
I am happy with MSU. The adult services coordinators are great I.T. is wonderful and helpful. I haven't meet a rude person yet all have been nice friendly and helpful.
I enjoy being here at Missouri state. This school has a lot of things to get involved. They have a lot of activities and clubs. The professors that I’ve had are all good. I haven’t had any struggles with them, and if I was struggling with something they would be open to help. They have a good tutoring program here as well. The campus is decently big. I got use to where everything was within a week or even less. I recommend coming to Missouri state if you are looking for a cheaper option.
