A lovely walk around the moor on a sunny March day. Whilst visiting friends they took us round a trail on the moor. Lovely views and easy trails. Deffo worth a visit and just next to our hotel the Cow & Calf. I recommend walking boots first bit of stability.

Even on a damp day in September worth a visit. The weather was not kind and not able to see miles as we have in the past. However, very atmospherical and enjoyable. Limited but free parking.

This moorland just to the south of the Dales is a really lovely place for hikes. We followed a circuit hike that took in Ilkley Tarn, Stanza Stone Beck, Ilkley Moor Cow & Calf Rocks, The Twelve Apostles Stone Circle, Ilkley Crags and White Wells. Well worth the walk and it’s not hard to see how it inspires the Yorkshire anthem "On Ilkley Moor baht 'at"

I had some spare time whilst I had my car serviced to took a bus trip to Ilkley and took the opportunity to have a walk on Ilkley Moor. Given it was a weekday with changeable weather, it was worth a trip as was going to be quiet. My hikes tend to be in remote locations and busy attractions tend to be avoided, however it was good to reacquaint myself with the backdrop to Ilkley. Particularly as I visit Ilkley a lot. Paths are well defined and extensive. I walked around the Cow and Calf rocks and it had extensive views across the Wharfe Valley and the Dale's. Easily accessible by bus and train from Ilkley, Menston, Baildon and near Eldwick, you can experience a linear walk without the need to return to a car. This is a fantastic location for a day out, however it does need to be treated with respect as the fragile moorland can erode. Summer weekends are best avoided if you value a quiet day out. If you are visiting for the day or holidaying, this is a place to recommend.

Went with a walking group and had a lovely time. We parked and met up at the Darwin Gardens car park. It’s free parking.
From there we walked past the college building which was at one time Ilkley’s largest hotel. Going up hill we came to the White Wells bath house. There is a shop here and a toilet. We kept moving up hill and reached the moor. It was a lengthy walk along the moor. Was quite cold and windy so we had to get extra layers on. Then we made our descent into Addingham reaching the A65 main road. We went across the other side and walked along the River Wharfe back to Ilkley. It was a bit busy by the Riverside Gardens.
I was expecting to see the Cow and Calf as well as the Twelve Apostles stones. But that was not included on this walk. It was a 9 mile walk and I couldn’t have walked further anyway
Ilkley takes you back into another age with its quaintness and unique feel.

Parked high on the moor near the mast - approaching from Keighley. Bit of a hike to the top but the scenery is breathtaking. Had the bonus of a large kite swirling overhead looking for food.
Midweek visit and there was lots of space in the car park and not too many people out and about - guess weekends can be more manic. Lovely views in a lovely part of the UK and worth a visit if in the area.

Ilkley is an absolute gem of a place to go if you want beautiful scenery either on bike or on foot. The Moors above Ilkley Moor were simply glorious graced with stunning views and plenty of wildlife including red grouse, lapwings and curlews. The villages and pubs in the area are picturesque and welcoming. It is a fantastic place to visit and recommend walking along the Dales way along the river Wharfe.
Ilkley is a charming town with a few shops, supermarkets and plenty of pubs and restaurants (although some shut early and stop serving food at 8). Loads of amenities and sports facilities including a station. I would avoid the tourist hot spot - Cow and Calf rocks, there are better views along the valley up on either side.
Absolutely loved our mini break in Ilkley but just beware it’s hilly!

Mr and Mrs N had a lovely day out in Ilkley. They parked near the old bridge close to the Riverside hotel and took some photos on the bridge with the river behind them. They then walked up through the park into the charming town centre and had a browse around the shops . Mrs N found a decent winter coat to purchase. They then had ice creams in the April sunshine back down at the Riverside cafe. They then drove up to the Ilkley moor and the Cow and Calf. They sat on a bench overlooking the majestic view and just enjoyed the peace and quiet hand in hand.

If you don't mind out of control dogs and their owners and reckless off-road cyclists it is a great place.
Try to go during the week and during term-time. Take a walking pole to ward off dogs - we met two off-lead and not responding to commands from their owners. One leapt at myself and my companions biting at and nipping us all.
Its irresponsible owner (apparently a member of Mountain Rescue) seemed oblivious to the many signs warning owners of the nesting birds etc.
Another dog charged towards us and was only deterred when I raised my stick and shouted at it. Again, the owners sided with the dog and claimed there were no signs prohibiting dogs off-lead; there were many signs in plain view.
You have to laugh.

Hi We are visiting UK from Dubai. We will be staying in London and Edinburgh and are also planning 2 nights trip to Yokshire. We are group of 5 adults and 4 kids in the age group of 9-1 yrs. Since we are already staying in London city we would like to do something more quite and relaxing, preferably a scenic and countryside place with stay preferably in a cottage. Could someone suggest must see places to visit and stay during this short trip.

You could stay in the lake district on your way to Scotland
