I have always thought Bj had one of the most unique voices that American music has ever been graced with...I love all the pairings on this new CD... The songs are just as relevant as they were when he first recording them...But in this new rebirth of them, you are allowed to savor them a bit more because of the great production by the producer (Kyle Lehning) they are clear and clean... I love hearing Vince Gill's vocal pop in and out of the the tune that he does with BJ... And Richard MArx is very Tasty on "Hey... Wrong Song".

One of My favorite cuts is "Most of all " with Keb Mo ...It is just plain cool...C-O-O-L... and Then of course I love what Lyle Lovett does on "Raindrops"...He gives it his own little tweaks on his vocals... That are very Lyle.

I heard Isaac Slade do an interview abut how much he loved BJ Thomas and That he personally choose to do the Hank Williams Classic '" I'm so Lonesome I could cry"....I must say that he did a SUPERB job on his incredibly effective performance ... I am now an Isaac Slade fan ...big time.

Sara Niemietz, Etta Britt and Steve Tyrell also are paired with Bj and they all do an extremely fine job... I have been wearing thing CD out...Very happy with this purchase.... THANKS BJ!

And on this 'acoustic' version of his classic hits, his voice stands front and center, with extremely tasteful acoustic guitars and guests vocalists complementing it. The original recordings had lush orchestration - and if you listen to them, it was some of the best orchestration of the era. Though the originals also had the orchestration tastefully surrounding his voice and not overwhleming it, The Living Room Sessions, with the stripped down feel of an acoustic concert in a small venue, breathes new life into each song. B.J. has one of the most distinctive voices of the pop era and it is amazing how good it sounds at this stage of his life! If you are a BJ fan - you are going to LOVE this record. If those not familiar with BJ give this even one listen - I'm confident he will gain a whole new generation of fans. I cannot reccomment this record highly enough - it is 5+ stars. I believe he could have 'hits' all over again if some of these were released for airplay.

What a great CD. BJ sounds the same as when he was in his 20's doing the hotel circuit in Houston. I have heard him in person numerous times, the last being in February 2014 in Houston at Dosey Does. That was a great concert and this CD is a great one as well. I love the fact it has Vince Gill, Richard Marx, and numerous other excellent singers joining him for the duets. One thing I didn't notice until listening the 2nd time is the fact there is no large band or orchestra backing. It is from what it sounds, a half drum set, 2 accoustic guitars and a bass player. That's it. I'm sure that's where the name Living Room Sessions came from as it's as if they are just all sitting around in a living room singing these great songs. One of the best CD's I've heard in years.

BJ Thomas is a fond music memory of my youth, but it's not nostalgia that make this project wonderful. Some great tunes sung by a magnificent voice that [as of 2013] was still in remarkable shape. The duets tracks are, to me, a bit of a step down, as I would have preferred Thomas perform this project completely solo, but they are interesting and well done. The arrangement and Thomas' voice on the Brian Wilson tune "Don't Worry Baby" is amazing, like Wilson had written the song for Thomas. A truly lovely CD......

I was in early Grade School when these songs were initally released,so I was a little wary when I received this CD to review.I grew up with Queen and other classic rock bands, but my father always had an amazing "stereo system" in our house, so while I was familiar with B.J. Thomas, I doubted I would remember any of his songs. Boy, was I wrong! With the exception of one or two tracks, I had to force myself to stop singing along and really listen to the CD. That didn't last long - I listened intently to the album once (it's pretty short), then grabbed my hairbrush and hit "replay!" This is something no one over 40 should be doing - but I didn't care - and no one could see me, anyway! What an unexpected rush of good memories! The various artists jamming with B.J. brought something special to what could have been just another throw away re-release. I did drop one star because of the price - $7.99 would have been more in line, and - I know this is ridiculous - but the cover really creeps me out! Thomas looks like he's been dragged backwards through a hedge! The CD case is now facing upside down on my coffee table while I write this review...whew! I'm finished, and just about to hit re-play - wait! I need my hairbrush! Enjoy!

This is a real nice trip down memory lane. B.J. Thomas who has one of the best set of pipes since the 1960's has re-worked 12 of his best known songs. You will remember all of these hits, however they are presented here in a more mellow, stripped down acoustic version.

All the main hits are here, some are performed by Thomas alone and there are several duets done by some well known singers such as Richard Marx, Lyle Lovett, Vince Gill, Issac Slade, and others.

This is really a treasure for any B.J. Thomas fan!! I have seen him in concert and this man can really belt out the ballad! He has been one of the best male vocalists since the late 1960's and in 2013 he proves that B.J. Thomas can croon a love song as good as anyone. Well done Mr. Thomas I hope you will now release some new material.

The Voice of my Childhood!

I love BJ. I've met him a few times through my mom and his original songs are a time machine back to when I was in preschool. These acoustic duets are just as amazing! I have to admit I love the new versions of "I Just Can't Help Believing" and "Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" even more than the old ones. Every day when I hit play while driving in the morning and it plays "Don't Worry Baby", those first acoustic guitar notes make me take a deep breath and smile while reminding myself "everything's gonna be alright" before the lyrics even say so too.

This CD is never leaving my car!
