INFORMATION FOR REGISTERED MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS (RMPs) WHO WISH TO REGISTER IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) (ACUPUNCTURE SUBAREA) UNDER THE TRADITIONAL AND COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE (T&CM) ACT 2016 [ACT 775]

Based on the T&CM Act 2016 [Act 775], a person who intends to practice in a recognized practice area  is required to register with the T&CM Council. The T&CM Council has agreed that RMPs who fulfil certain criteria and wish to be registered with the T&CM Council to practice in TCM (Acupuncture Subarea) during the transitional period are required to undergo a Capacity Building Module (CBM).

The criteria to attend the CBM are as follows:

  • RMPs who possess at least 5 years of verified experience in acupuncture subarea and have attended any short term course related to acupuncture. The duration of the short term course is at least 180 hours.
  • RMPs who are less than 50 years old and possess at least 10 years of verified experience in acupuncture subarea but have not attended any acupuncture related courses.
  • RMPs who are above 50 years old and possess verified experience in the acupuncture subarea for more than 5 years but less than 10 years.

*RMPs who are above 50 years old and posses at least 10 years of verified experience in the acupuncture subarea are eligible to be registered via requirement of experience route and are exempted from the CBM.

Kindly liase with the CBM Training Centre to obtain detailed information on the conduct of the CBM, including the assessment component of the CBM.
