No.

A bit rocky

All in all it wasn't very well received but if it's your first comic run it's worth getting a few more issues and seeing how you like it.

This is my first Superman comic but if there’s a better recent run that you’d recommend I’d definitely check it out

Joshua Williams Superman is probably a good jumping on point, it’s not a new start or anything so all the villains and side characters exist but if you understand the general Superman mythology you’ll get it. PKJ action comics aka warworld saga is also great it’s sort of like a Planet Hulk storyline.

Is that the current run?

Yeah Williamson is the current run. The first volume is in hardcover now and in trade soon, second volume is coming out in trade soon. You also might be able to find the single issues at your local shop. Warworld stuff ended recently and it’s all in trade.

If this is your first comics, read the current run of Superman and Action comics. Joshua Williamson is the writer.

But if you just want to read introduction, Birthright Superman is it.
