This is hardly even a real film but more of a spoofed together home movie made by Chaplin at Douglas Fairbanks house with his guests Lord and Lady Mountbatten. Jackie Coogan is also present for a brief period. The film itself makes little sense and is clearly just Chaplin et al having some fun. The inter-titles are all set in rhyming couplets and tell a tale of a woman with a pearl necklace who loves a man but who must first be rescued from a hoarde of assorted thieves and scoundrels. To aid her in that task Chaplin's tramp and a mallet are at hand. There's not much else to it than that and various edits within the film render previous actions incomprehensible. Like I said, it's just some people messing about. It just so happens Charlie Chaplin is one of them.
