I’m glad that you took the time to check reviews first! We did not. As we walked in, my son thought we were going into the back rooms. We ended up paying over $100 for a few pieces of candy. It was dirty, a bit scary, and staff were just sitting around on their phones or sleeping. Please save yourself the trouble and just take your kid to the corner store to buy them some candy.

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at Candytopia in NYC, and it was a really fun experience! The staff are very organized, welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic. There are treasure chests full of candy in each of the rooms. They encourage you to take photos and touch and interact with the exhibits. The candy sculptures are so intricate and detail oriented. My favorite was the "under the sea" exhibit that had sea life created from candy.

The website really made this attraction sound fun.

While my 6 year old granddaughter did enjoy it, it certainly did not live up to my daughter’s or my expectations.

Upon arrival, it seemed like you were entering some warehouse and the ‘rooms’ were separated by partitions/fabric. The candy samples in each room were cheap (sometimes off brand) and tiny. Not much chocolate just sugary stuff like Laffy Taffy and such, except for a little off brand chocolate coin in the first room and a Tootsie Pop in another. There were some things ‘made’ of candy in each room, but it was the same candies over and over, generally gummy bears and licorice and such.

There were some interactive things that my granddaughter enjoyed. There was a hallway with mirrors and neon lights that was cool and a room with some neon swings the were round and kind of resembled Life Savors.

The staff just hung around and either hadn’t been trained or didn’t want to do their job. The worker in the confetti room did engage with us more than the others.

The marshmallow pit was also disappointing. You could not jump or slide into it and the things that made it interactive, like putting the ‘marshmallow’ (not real marshmallows, but rather foam), in a suction tube and it would shoot out somewhere else, was not working. They had a worker sitting there that would sometimes sort of throw some ‘marshmallows’ at the kids when she wasn’t chatting it up with her co-worker.

We did purchase some fun candies in the gift shop but it was a bit pricey. As was admission…$36 per person!

Sad to say, this stop did not meet our expectations. I would not recommend going here especially at this price.

I’m giving this 5 stars because my 9 year old daughter loved it and couldn’t stop talking about how great it was. Lots of opportunity for instagram photos, some free candy. Older teens didn’t think it was so hot though.

Not as advertised. Not at all "outrageously interactive". You walk through a few "exhibits" that are supposed to be "outrageously interactive" and which promise "the time of your life" and what it's really about is taking highly staged and contrived selfies that do not represent the setting whatsoever. The rooms / exhibits are lame attempts at an immersive experience. With the exception of a few sculptures made of candy, the exhibits are extremely disappointing and uneventful + generally tired, drab, filthy and in need of repair / attention. One room was pretty much empty. We kept thinking the "outrageously interactive" and "time of your life" part was right around the corner, but it never happened. The marshmallow pit at the end was a joke, unsanitary and a pretty awful experience. Lots of yelling going on by employees about "no jumping in the pit or you will be thrown out!". Very negative, condescending tone, which pretty much killed whatever bit of "outrageously interactive" fun you could've had. There were also numerous safety hazards. For the selfies, you're instructed to assume different positions so as to face the camera while confetti is blown at you by a leaf blower. There were adults and kids who ended up ingesting the confetti and coughing, particularly at one exhibit where you're instructed to lie down on a rotating platform and look up at the camera on the ceiling while confetti rains down on you pretty forcefully, getting into your mouth, nostrils and eyes. The confetti then gets blown into a corner along with all the dust and dirt on the floor and dispersed onto the next individual. Gross. If you're into this, be prepared to also stand around waiting for your turn. The whole purpose of this place is take these fake selfies and, it's nowhere near "a wonderland" as described. Furthermore, the marshmallow pit needs child proofing whether kids are jumping or not. There are two sharp metal corners of a stairway railing that protrude into the pit. You're required to enter and exit the pit via these stairs, They should, and can be easily childproofed, but, for some reason are not. ‍ I saw several kids come within inches of hitting their head on the exposed corners, and they were following the rules and not jumping, however, as they waded through the pit to make it to the stairs, they fell close to the railing since it's hard to walk through the marshmallows. In other words, it wasn't their fault. The employees in the pit area are downright nasty and extremely unprofessional. They need guidance and training on customer relations and people skills. For the price of these tickets, there are a ton of other amazing things you could do in NYC. To put it bluntly, Candytopia NYC is a dump. Spend your money elsewhere.

Safety hazard. Sharp corners of the stairway railing jutting out into the marshmallow pit. Several kids nearly hit their head.

False claims. Not at all like what's described.
