2015 Crime Drama Mystery & Thriller List
84% Tomatometer 31 Reviews 89% Audience Score 500+ Ratings When the corpse of an 11-year-old British boy, Danny Latimer, is found bloodied and dirty on an idyllic beach, a small Dorset community becomes the focus of a police investigation and media madness. Out-of-town Detective Inspector Alec Hardy gets the point position over Detective Sgt. Ellie Miller -- who feels the job should have been hers. Now she must engage in an efficient working relationship with taciturn Hardy. Slowly, more members of the community of Broadchurch are drawn into the investigation, with a telephone engineer drawing great attention when he admits to a special connection to the case. While dealing with so much unwelcome attention, Danny's family tries to cope with its grief. When a suspect is named and charged, the ensuing trial sees the defendant promising to expose more of the townspeople's secrets. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Buy Now

Daisy Wyatt Independent (UK) Unfortunately it's not just the plotline that has let this second series down, but the dialogue too. Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Ben Lawrence Daily Telegraph (UK) This bolt from the blue made me realise just how powerful and compelling the case of Danny Latimer was and how satisfying it was to rake over what had gone before. Rated: 4/5 Mar 11, 2015 Full Review Gwen Ihnat AV Club Yay, Broadchurch is back! It's so great and compelling and oh God, that's right, kind of bleak and depressing, and, um, where's the wine? Rated: B+ Mar 9, 2015 Full Review Christopher Stevens Daily Mail (UK) Allow yourself to be swept along by the hallucinatory pictures and music, and it becomes absorbing. Rated: 4/5 Nov 7, 2017 Full Review Bernice Harrison Irish Times Even though series two of Broadchurch can't be as compelling, tense and original as series one, it's still a must-see. Aug 14, 2017 Full Review J.M. Suarez PopMatters Fortunately, Broadchurch steps up to the challenge and in many ways surpasses itself. Rated: 8/10 Jun 29, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Eventhough the attempts at making me sympathise with the defense attorney fall flat, i prefer this to the first season because it still has the same strength as the first season ( good acting, good drama) but i liked the mystery more. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review michael a a complex yet perfectly paced season 2. Excellent performances as usual which ends in an exciting and interest set of events. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member it's all mostly action in the courtroom, lawyer speak and how to present the facts to your advantage. Drags to the end, and interesting to see the resolution and how the community handled it. Very different feel than the first season, more of drama than... mystery. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Although season two may have lacked some of the thrills of season one, it still had plenty of drama and suspense to make up for it. The polished direction and strong performances from the entire cast keeps the series at a high bar and the introduction new characters and a new mystery to unravel keeps things fresh and unpredictable even if that mystery isn't quite as interesting as the previous. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 2 was unbelievably bad, compared to season 1. Major plot holes, no real reason to actually continue, side stories that we are not interested in, with characters that don't make sense... My advise: Watch season 1 and then stop.
