Wallachia
About
Wallachia is a historic region and former Principality of Romania situated between the Southern Carpathians and the Lower Danube. Wallachia was traditionally divided into Muntenia (Greater Wallachia) and Oltenia (Lesser Wallachia). In 1859, Wallachia united with Moldavia to form modern Romania. Nowadays, Wallachia consists of the counties, Gorj, Dolj, Vâlcea, Olt, Argeș, Dâmbovița, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Prahova, Ilfov (including Bucharest), Buzău, Brăila, Ialomița, Călărași, most of Mehedinț, and a part of Vrancea.
