I recently stayed at this hotel whilst attending a business conference at an adjacent hotel. The Bantry Bay Suite Hotel offered a clean and spacious room. Unfortunately my bath room, and the supply of hot water was a daily problem. The shower was difficult to regulate. The cistern of the toilet in the bathroom leaked wasting many liters of water. I have reported the warm water and the toilet. It was not fixed in time.
Breakfast was also a problem as it was only available from 07:00 - I was required to have left the hotel shortly after 7 and could thus not enjoy my breakfast. The breakfast spread was average and nothing spectacular. Coffee was some mornings served cold. The waiting time for fried eggs was too long
The room was more than adequate and the bed did make for a decent sleep. I had a seagull nesting outside my bedroom window that was very noisy some days early in the morning. This could be a serious hindrance to other guests.
The staff were generally friendly
I will recommend the hotel provided they address the water supply, water pressure and the shower in the main bedroom.

Dear Franzdorette, Your feedback about the level or lack of maintenance and breakfast service certainly does not reflect the high standard of service and quality that Bantry Bay Suite Hotel is usually proud to offer. I confirm therefore that your comments have been followed up and remedial action has been taken to ensure that our guests are not inconvenienced in this way again. Apologies for any discomfort caused to you.

This is possibly one of the nicest hotels i have stayed in. The staff could not do enough for you and the views from our room were stunning. The hotel provide a mobile phone to use whilst out and about which we found to be a lovely touch (as well as the underfloor heating). The shower was perfect and the WiFi was fab. All the amenities for our room were spot on. The breakfast staff were extremely helpful and unfortunately i did not get the ladies name but every morning she was extremely cheery and brightened up the day. Thank you for a terrific stay and i wouldn't question staying here again.

I stayed in the penthouse apartment which had great views and my collague had a suit which looked over Lionshead. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. The pool is not great but we walked 50 metres spent most of our free time around The President hotel’s pool.

I’d stay there again but the pressure of the shower in the penthouse apartment was disappointing and the water takes four minutes to heat up which is not great for the Cape Town water crisis. I was trying to save water and had a cold shower most mornings. I’ll probably stay in the suite next time because my colleague did not have the same problem.

Dear Arrank My team joins me to thank you for your positive review for the Bantry Bay suite hotel, we are happy to have met all your expectations in terms of service and hospitality. We are addressing the water pressure, which is mainly caused by the municipal water being reduced in pressure, hence affecting the water heating in the Penthouse. I am sorry to hear that you had to take cold showers which is not what we like hearing; as you heard from your colleague this is not a general issue in the hotel. I wish you would have reported it at our front desk and we would definitely have made other arrangements for you. Our pool is much smaller as we are a forty one suites boutique hotel with much less grounds in comparison to a large hotel of three hundred and twenty seven rooms! We look forward to your next visit as a returned client and we will make sure that your next stay will be a memorable one Kind regards Martine Rambert Wood

We were a family of 6, staying in two separate suites 10 days in january/february. The family of four stayed in a luxury suite, whilst the couple of two stayed in a deluxe suite. And overall we had a wonderful time. The hotel is centrally located, just 20 meter from the hopon/hopoff-stop, and maybe 100 meters from several stops for the Mycity-buses. With them you could, for a very small amount, and in a safe way, access a number of places in Cape Town. Both Table Mountain, Camps Bay, city centre, and Waterfront are on bus routes. You also are close to the sea promenad, and the saltwater-pool, and plenty of restaurants and shops. The hotel is clean, the service is good, and the food is nice. Overall a good place to stay. But, they need to work on their taps so that they can deliver hot water instantly. In a water-crisis Cape Town you dont want to waste a drop. I guess some guest will wait for hot water for a long time, wasting a lot of water.

Dear Ola My team joins me to thank you for your positive report and truly appreciate to read that we met with your expectations. I remember you all, and glad that you had an awesome time, and due to our amazing location, you could step out of the hotel and got to all close amenities, promenade, restaurants, retail shops, boutiques, market etc. The red bus is truly great, which is 50m from the hotel to allow you to visit our mother city. Thank you for your valuable comments regarding the water, unfortunately with the pressure of the water from the municipality being dropped by half it does affect the hot water to come through quicker. We have addressed this since last week and further placed the "water saver"small bucket in all our showers so that no water gets wasted. I can assure you that we are doing all that is possible to save water and our patrons are very supportive in our battles. For your information our day zero has been postponed to Middle of July, hopefully by then our winter rains will be here! Alleluia:) Looking forward to welcoming you again Kind regards Martine Rambert Wood

Large and clean room. Nice bathroom. Partial ocean view from the 2ND floor`s room.
Average breakfast. Tiny pool.
The beach is around 100 meters from the hotel but to the V&A Waterfront you need to use a taxi service.

I was very disappointed overall. We booked a suite only to discover it was one room with a sleeper couch. No where near big enough for myself and two kids. There wasn't even enough cupboard space for 1 person, let alone 3. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable and pillows way too soft. I requested alternative pillows but was told that's all they had. We moved to the penthouse for more space after two nights. Besides the extra space which we needed, the room was in terrible condition. Water pressure in the showers is non existent. Soap dish in shower hanging by a thread, towel rails falling off the walls, curtain hooks broken and curtains not closing properly. Doors rattle in the wind and on several occasions the room had not been made up by 3pm. The coffee machine in the room had a coffee pod lodged inside so the machine could not be used. To top it all off the housekeeping staff was unfriendly. Definitely not value for money and not recommended.

Sort out the tourist buses parking outside the hotel with urgency. Sleep quality is rated at poor for the room i was in... too much noise from bus. its a quiet street so this can be avoided and must be dealt with by management

This was the perfect little Hotel for our needs. Location is fantastic. It is one block away from the Promenade in a very safe neighbourhood. There are beautiful drives for day trips in all directions from the hotel. A supermarket, filling station and little eateries are all within a block or two.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, always greeting you by name. Wow! that impressed me. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel, as we were out of there too early each morning during our 3 night stay. We did, however, have a burger and a salad at the bar on our arrival the first night. The barman was also the cook, and he did a good job feeding us, as we were too tired to leave the hotel to go find food. He was very friendly and gave us the appropriate attention before leaving us alone again to enjoy our meal.

Parking was secure under the building and at R50 per day, this is a bargain by Cape Town standards.

Best of all was the cleanliness. Linen and toweling were spotlessly white. The room was extremely spacious and well appointed. The kitchenette even has a hob, not just a microwave. Guests strolled in and out with bags of food and groceries. We did not cook but we used the kettle and the hospitality tray supplied. Our deluxe room had both a shower and a bath, well lit for us ladies and our make up requirements. That is sometimes a serious problem in other hotels, I find. Our 'partial view' was not bad, but next time we will definitely try get a sea view.

The only complaint we had cannot be controlled by Bantry Bay Suite Hotel. The large neighboring hotel, The President, has buses and trucks arriving throughout the night. These are very noisy as they go up the steeply inclined driveway right next to this lovely little hotel. There is nothing they can do about that, I am sure.

The big red City Sightseeing bus stops right outside. Tickets are available at the reception. I bought a Blue Tour ticket for the mini Peninsula trip. First though, i walked all along the Promenade towards Mouille Point on 2 walking tours on my cell phone, and then enjoyed the sights of the city on the bus, climbing off at our hotel in the late afternoon, whilst my husband took our rental car to attend to his business. It was very safe for me to do sightseeing on my own.

Thank you for the great stay. We will be back.

I have stayed at this hotel since many years ago, but not for the past 5 years. I returned with a Spanish colleague of mine and was full of high expectations/ hopes when i made the booking for this week.

What a rude awakening i got - the place has gone backwards in a huge way..... our rooms had furniture which was in a bad shape, worn and tatty looking. The Wi-Fi signal in one of the rooms was not good, both suites had TVs which had bad to none reception signals and the TV picture was so bad one could not watch TV.... the shower mixer was not working and you either burnt to death in scalding hot water or froze to death in extra cold water - nothing inbetween....

Breakfast used to be the highlite in this hotel..... but now that was just a good memory...
Today, staff were standing around - not attending to any of the guests in the breakfasts room, to get fried eggs, was a huge mission which I abandoned after 15 minutes, no orange juice etc etc.... all in all a bad experience at breakfast time.

When i informed the duty manager of my experiences in his hotel, he just shrugged and tried to argue with me about my complaints - saying that it was my imagination.

This alleged 4 STAR hotel should be avoided at all costs - unless your expectations are for a 2 STAR low budget hotel.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Bantry Bay Suites Hotel in July. I was always curious about this hotel, and decided to give it a try. I am delighted that we did. Everything exceeded expectations. I read some bad reviews, but still wanted to try it for myself. I cannot fault anything, you get what you pay for, their prices are reasonable for the product and location. And the apartment had everything we could have asked for! The beds were comfortable. Our apartment was split over two floors, the bedroom being upstairs. Furniture were more than sufficient and added to the overall ambiance. Location is very central and very close to the ocean (walking distance). We had no issues whatsoever. The rooms were kept clean. There's a safe in the bedroom, the hotel had ample secure parking both outside and undercover. Reception staff were excellent, they were some of the best we have ever encountered.

I want to thank the hotel for this excellent and unforgettable stay! You truly made our trip memorable! We will definitely be back.

Hi, the hotel is child friendly but I don't know about cots and high chairs. There were lots of kids so I'm sure they would have those facilities. You can email them as well. They respond quite quickly on queries. The room we used had a sleeper couch for our son. It is large enough for three kids and it is not very high from the floor. reservations @ thebantrybay . com
