When we couldn't get our first choice for an overnight stay in Santa Rosa, we settled on the American's Best Value Inn mainly because of its cheap room rate and minimal pet fee ($67 total). This is an older two story motel (the physical building could use some updating) but there is plenty of parking including large turnaround space. Check in was handled efficiently. The room was large with a couch and mini-fridge. We had good cable and internet services. While on the outskirts of town, it was a relatively short drive to restaurants, stores, and sites. It was fairly quiet even being near the highway exit (which made our departure very convenient!)

It was certainly nothing fancy, but it had a nicely maintained exterior - fresh paint and nicely landscaped. The man at the desk was friendly and welcoming. The room itself was a nice size, with a queen bed, two end tables, long dresser with TV on top, round table with two upholstered chairs and small refrigerator. Everything was very clean. The carpet and mattress appeared very new. Paint on walls was new, too. I am extremely particular about having a non-smoking odor free room and I was more than satisified with this one. Again, nothing fancy (a swimming pool would have been welcome in the heat) but for a one nighter on a budget, this place was just fine. "Breakfast" was a sweet roll and coffee, no beverage offereed for a child.

After a long drive, my kids, puppy, and I were looking for a motel at midnight, so we couldn't see the neighborhood. There were 5 motels within the 3 blocks, but we chose this one because it looked like we could sneak in our puppy. Though we woke up the manager, he was friendly. At 3am, we woke up the manager because we got locked out when taking the puppy outside, and the manager was sleepy but kind about getting us an extra key. The room was very old and the bathroom was in desperate need of remodeling. I wouldn't shower without wearing shoes. Also, I wouldn't let my kids walk barefoot on the carpets or go near the blankets. The sheets and pillow cases were clean. There was no smokey smells or noise. It was a basic, older motel. Nothing horrible and nothing great.

Reasonable room, towels kept up to date, no bugs from bed.
All nights but one quiet.

The one disturbance was a young adult female person who walked up and down the lengtrh of the walkway between the parking lot and the first floor rooms. Every third word was unprintable. There were a few much quieter companions either attempting to calm her down or perhaps egging her on, I couldn't tell. the volume would rise and fall according to where they were.

This situation continued without any intervention from either management or the local Police from about midnight until well after 2am.

Cheap rate - you pays you money and you takes you choice.

This is my second time to stay at this motel. I have an annual event at the nearby fairgrounds and this is the best priced motel nearby. My room was spotless clean. Very basic, no frills, but fine for someone just needing an affordable place to sleep. I am a woman and was staying alone, so safety is a concern. I was a little worried when there was a man hanging around a nearby room. He walked slowly behind me when I went to the vending machine for water, but didn't bother me. That night, there were two young women outside the same room. After that night, the motel filled up with customers and I did not notice any more people hanging around their rooms like that. Aside from traffic noise, the room was quiet. There's a huge shopping area near the motel, so you can get food, gas, or almost anything needed without having to go far. I wish there would have been some sort of instruction sheet in the room about the wifi password, how to operate the tv, things like that.

My husband and I just needed a place to stop for the night on a long drive. Made the reservation through tripadvisor. When we arrived, I really needed to get to a bathroom and the desk clerk made me a key to our room immediately while my husband finished checking us in. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet even though the motel is right off the freeway. Bed was comfortable, bathroom and sink area clean, well-lighted, with requisite shampoo, soap, etc. Wifi worked fine, although we had to put the password in again every time we closed the laptop. Didn't use the refrig, microwave, or TV so can't report on those but they were all there. Table and chairs, desk, lots of room to stow luggage. Didn't try the continental breakfast - walked across the street to Denney's. Nothing fancy but a really good value.

I have stayed in many questionable hotels before.... THIS IS BY FAR, THE WORST HOTEL EVER!!! The first thing to mention is, this is in a BAD neighborhood. There is a liquor store across the street. My party and I took a short walk over to the liquor store (upon coming to grips with the dismal reality of just how AWFUL a night we'd have in our stank nasty room) seeking drinks to numb the awfulness of where we were staying. There was a free HIV/AIDS testing van in the parking lot of the liquor store. I may have heard gun shots at night. The room smelled horrible. It was non smoking, but there was a smoke detector in the room, with a notice that said every time you smoke 10$ will be added to your bill. WHATS THE POINT OF THE NON-SMOKING ROOM THEN?! The room was dirty and smelly and horrible. I didn't sleep under the blankets because I was afraid of catching a disease. We only stayed there because it looked OK from the outside and it was getting late and we couldnt' find any other place to stay (because everywhere was booked for a near-by NASCAR event). It was horrible. This is the worst hotel ever to exist. The people running it should be ashamed of how nasty it is.

My husband and I stayed here on 8-13-06 for one night - oldest daughter goes to college nearby. We have stayed at other hotels in the area, and had better experiences, over the past 2 years. The hotel was older, but maintained. It is in a less desireable portion of town, pretty seedy. Inside the room, the furniture appeared new, and the room itself clean. The towel bar was not firmly attached to the wall and bumping the towel hanging on it caused the bar to fall. The non-smoking room smelled of smoke. There is a continental breakfast in the lobby with coffee and individually wrapped pastry. The staff was pleasant, both checking in and out.

Stayed here 1 night for an event in Santa Rosa. Based on the reviews of Santa Rosa hotels, this seemed like one of the better places to stay for the price. And I was not disappointed. Driving into the parking lot I noticed the property was very clean and neatly landscaped. We were greeted by friendly staff at check in. The room was very clean and neat. Seemed updated recently. No carpet. The wood flooring is really nice. New paint. New tile in the bathroom. Shower was very clean. AC worked great. Slept comfortably. Continental breakfast is offered. Hotel is in a good area with lots of restaurants and stores nearby. I would highly recommend this property.

I arrived early and was accommodated by the friendly management staff. The hotel is located just off the freeway and just a short 5 minute drive to downtown.

The rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. The fridge was very welcome in the heat! The bathroom was basic but very clean and the shower was excellent.

Definitely a great base to explore Santa Rosa and the surrounding area.
