Whilst the waitstaff were polite and spoke good English, Angelina was way understaffed; it took me nearly 10 minutes from getting the attention of a waitress to actually paying the bill. Hot chocolate is the signature drink of this place, likely because of its warmth,...thickness, silkiness and shine. The Mont Blanc was also beautifully made. Unfortunately, both were simply too sweet to be enjoyable. Despite the history behind this cafe as well as its prime location, prices were near exorbitant. The set I ordered (called "Healthy Breakfast") was 23 euro, and consisted of little other than orange juice, muesli yoghurt, a bread roll with jam, a slightly mushy fruit salad (likely using canned fruit), and tea...none of which were particularly impressive. Angelina has a marvelous interior, and not much else. Rather than sit inside, I would just order a hot chocolate for takeout, and continue on with my day.More

We'd had breakfast at Angelina the first time in c.2013 as boyfriend and girlfriend, and it stuck in our memory so clearly that we just went back in August 2020 (now husband and wife, with child). Everything at Angelina exudes elegance - from the decor...to the service and the way the food is presented (e.g. pastries on an afternoon tea-style plate stand). You can choose between different options for a "set" breakfast or go a la carte with the macarons and other pastries from the in-house patisserie, so the choices are plentiful. To round it off, the location is fantastic (Rue de Rivoli, walking distance to the Louvre or the Seine riverfront) and the prices, while not cheap, are appropriate for what you get. Overall, Angelina made for a great experience in both visits, and in my mind is still the best place I've had breakfast at in Paris. I think Angelina will remain a staple for our future visits to Paris.More

After reading amazing reviews, I was very let down by my experience. I knew you needed a reservation, and without it, you would need to wait in line outside, which we did. The line did move fast and they were well organized with how they...managed this. However, once seated, it took over 15 minutes for our server to even greet us and ask for drinks. After that, it took another 45 minutes to receive the food. The food was average, and my friend's egg croissant was lukewarm and had cold ham on it. We opted to do the hot chocolate to go from the counter upfront on the way out since the whole table experience was terrible. For the price and effort, I was super disappointed.More

I really did not even hear about this place before (and I used to go to Paris 4x a year), and have been going to Paris for 30 years. This time we stayed at a apt literally just above Angelina. In the first morning I...went down and bough a few croissants, which I have to say was nice, but again, it's france and I have had amazing croissants before. Anyways, the next morning we were leaving so we decided to go there for breakfast, after all we could go on our PJ's if we wanted. We arrived there (it was early no line, which I would never face for anything, why stand on a line for that place beats me), it was not that busy yet, they took like 20 minutes to come and get our order. I ordered the Angelina breakfast which at €29 is not exactly cheap, my friends ordered a la carte, one of them ordered eggs bennedict. First they bring the coffee pots, which is small, before the croissants (food), ok I like to drink hot coffee and I was thinking with the croissants, well, not for the people in Angelina, drink it cold if you like, or without the croissants. It did get worse after that. My scrambbled eggs were ok, nothing special, nothing to write home about. After waving, and trying to call the attention of one of the pathetic waiters for like 5 minutes I got up and went to get the salt and peper myself (I also do not like cold egss). My friend's eggs bennedict was the most pathetic thing I have seen and she thought the same, the egg was HARD, pretty much as a boiled egg, the salmon tastes old and she said it was revolting, so she sent it back and asked for a scrambled egg. They brought it plain without a single thing, then she said if she could have a toast, they offered the choice and she went with the brioche toast. My breakfast had a fruit salad, which I was personally not that particurlaly interested, but as a point I wanted to see if they would bring it, after 30 minutes or so still no fruit salad. Again I had to nearly screem "excuse me" to get a waiter. After the second time asking for the same thing, the I called the manager again nearly screaming as they seem not to be able to hear a normal voice, or even trying to see if the tables are being looked after as it should. I asked again for the fruit salad and the bill since by that point I just want out! Fruit salad came and the bill. They charged for the brioche, a mere €7.90! My friend as a principal called the manager and said that she had to return her first choice because it was awful. He argued that he offered to change (failing to understand that it probably would be a pathetic as the first). He basically would not accept that there was anything wrong. Typical french arrogance, thinking that all they do is the best, well ANGELINA AND IT'S MANAGER , IT'S NOT! At that point we were just so fed up to try to reason with their arrogance we paid and vowed never to go there again. If you want croissants, go to the take away, buy some and same money and aggravation. That place is not worth a cent in anything food wise and let alone in service, they do not know what it is! The building is nice that is about it! To Angelina's manager, sir go to the USA or UK and learn how to deal with customers and deliver a good service, your is pathetic and below par!More

Angelina's desserts are fabulous!! They are extremely unique, exquisitely executed, and each are almost like individual pieces of art. This price is fair due to the taste and amount of talent it takes to create each individual dessert. Definitely get their hot chocolate. It tastes...like a cup full of melted rich chocolate. Very unique and tremendously delicious but very very filling. There was a line outside the door but that line was for the restaurant. I was able to go through the front doors and turn right into their take away bakery area which was extremely quick and easy.More

The tea, coffee, dishes and cakes at Angelina were marvellous. The decor too. Service was a bit slow and the waiters didn’t explain in details each cake, flavours and so on. (In the UK staff tell a lot of things to customers, and the small...talk between the client and the waiter is part of the service). Another downside was that it was quite touristy and too many people were taking photos and posing for a pick with the dishes. Make sure to book your table in advance. Definitely worth a visit and try their cakes, especially Mont Blanc and Mille-feuille.Its a bit pricey but it’s worth it.More

I was really looking forward to visiting Angelinas but was disappointed. The service was dreadful. It was not a busy afternoon but I had to wait ages to be served. I ordered a citron tart which was delicious but the pot of tea was a...teabag. One would expect that they would use tea leaves. Expensive and overall disappointing.More

This is one of those Paris institutions that have history, then become a tourist ‘must-do’, but manage to retain their charm and quality. We had a lovely experience recently. Ordered the signature chocolate chard and it was the most amazing hot chocolate i have ever...had. Had we realized how filling it would be, we wouldn’t have ordered lunch, but I’m glad we didn’t miss this delicious meal. I had egg and spinach on the most delicious brioche and my husband the onion soup - all very good and generous portions. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and very nice, including dealing with my imperfect French. Perfectly paced aced service.More

This highly recommended restaurant was a must-do on our list, having heard so much from friends. While I didn’t order the famous hot chocolate, I did have a wonderful iced coffee and most delicious eclair and pastry. A few days later, I tried the hot...chocolate at the Angelinas located in the Louve, and actually found it to be too thick, too rich for my tastes. I’ll stick with the iced coffee! You will love the beautiful decor and truly special vibe of this dining experience!More

The place is gorgeous and our service was prompt, poised, and professional with attitude. Was not in the mood for sweets but was there for relatively light lunch. I was not disappointed. Hoping to avoid the over-the-top sweetness of the hot chocolate, I ordered the...iced chocolate drink with my meal instead. One of the tastiest drinks ever and superior to the hot chocolate in my opinion. You don't have to go, but it's one of the better mid-day meal experiences in Paris.More

Get the hot chocolate, get the mont-blanc. Their reputation precedes them and they are both worth trying. Be prepared to queue and pay a little more as well. It’s still worth it. We tried their afternoon tea set and ordered an additional croissant with salmon...and egg AND mont-blancs. We overestimated our ability to finish everything but they nicely offered to box up the remaining pastries we couldn’t finish. Servers were pleasant and efficient. This was a highlight of our trip. If you can only try one thing here, please try their hot chocolate. I imagine this was how they discovered chocolate was divine.More

The hot chocolate was good, nice and thick. That was the only thing good here. The service was absolute trash. We only ordered eggs, plain croissant, 2 hit chocolates, and a cheese croissant and it took forever to receive the food. We’d almost finished the...hot chocolate by the time the food finally arrived. The eggs that we ordered eggs were cold. The cheese croissant was ok. We were given macarons to apologize for the cold eggs but they were awful as well.
