Ronaldinho, the legendary Brazilian football player, has arrived in Medellin, Colombia, to participate in a local sporting event. Retired since 2016, Ronaldinho has been invited by Colombian reggaeton singer Blessd to participate in an exhibition football game organzied to promote the singer’s latest album release.

Scheduled for today, the football game will feature Ronaldinho, Blessd, the famous retired Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita and various veterans of the Medellin football club Atletico Nacional.

Ronaldinho in Medellin

Ronaldinho visited the facilities of the Atletico Nacional, one of the best clubs in Colombian football history. There, he was awarded the team jersey and took part in a small training session with the players.

This warm and friendly episode surely brought back old memories for the football legend. Ten years ago, nearing the end of his career, Ronaldinho faced Atletico Nacional with his Brazilian team, Atletico Mineiro, in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. After a very tight home-and-away series, Ronaldinho’s team was ultimately eliminated by the Colombian club.

Now retired, Ronaldinho still conserves his incredible dribbling skills, which earned him worldwide fame. He is part of the golden generation of Brazilian football from the early 2000s, alongside players like Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos or Kaka, having won a World Cup in 2002 and a Ballon d’Or in 2005.

This is not the first time that Ronaldinho comes to Colombia, particularly Medellin. The Brazilian football player has developed a friendship with reggeaton singer Blessd, and they are frequently spotted together at music or sporting events. A few months ago, Ronaldinho participated in another football event in Medellin to promote his friend’s album. In their last encounter, Ronaldinho’s team triumphed 10-8 against Blessd’s team.
