Reviews
- Probably my favorite Barry Adamson album. Each and every track on here could've (and, indeed, should've) been used in a different movie. Or all in the same movie. But, like many other Adamson releases, the key is movies: his work is so hugely evocative of cinema—particularly a spectrum of film noir of the '40s through the late '70s—that it's nearly impossible to listen to this album with feeling your emotions pulled in the direction of the absent narrative. The tracks are of different genres, though nearly all of them dip at least their toes into nocturnal jazz. Most are instrumental, a few have sung vocals, and a few have strange narrations and spoken word segments. Dark, nighttime moods pervade. Barry Adamson is a master at this.
