Yesterday, the Station Commander welcomed the new Director of Flying Training, No.22 Group, Air Commodore Ian Sharrocks OBE MA RAF to RAF Shawbury.
Having only recently taken up his post, the visit allowed Air Commodore Sharrocks to view the world-leading facilities at the Defence College of Air and Space Operations and No.1 Flying Training School, as well as learn more about how they deliver training. The visit also provided the opportunity for Air Commodore Sharrocks to meet with personnel and Station executives to discuss matters of the moment.
As part of the visit, Air Commodore Sharrocks was able to experience the new air traffic control simulators that have recently been installed at the Defence College of Air and Space Operations under Programme MARSHALL, the MOD’s Air Traffic Management transformation programme, as well as the state of the art Flying Training Devices at No.1 Flying Training School, provided by Ascent Flight Training as part of the UK Military Flying Training System.
