OFFICIAL: Kang-In Lee signs five-year deal with PSG

PSG announced on Saturday, July 8, the signing of Kang-In Lee from Mallorca on a contract running through June 2028. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder hailing from South Korea thus becomes the first South Korean player to join the club.

Born in Incheon in 2001, Lee Kang-In made his move to Spain at the age of 10 to join Valencia's Academy in 2011. At just 17 years old, he made his debut for the first team in 2018, after spending seven years with the club.

Having represented Valencia for three seasons, featuring in 62 matches and scoring three goals, Lee Kang-In transferred to Mallorca in 2021. Primarily operating as a winger but equally effective in a central role, he enjoyed a highly successful first season in he island. He participated in 39 matches across various competitions, netting six goals and providing six assists.

Since 2019, Lee Kang-In has been an integral part of the South Korea national team, earning 14 caps and featuring in all four matches of his team's campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Lee Kang-In spoke to the PSG PR team after his signing on Saturday, saying that "It's an incredible feeling to join Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world's greatest clubs, boasting some of the finest players. I am eagerly looking forward to embarking on this new adventure."

Although the club has not made the final price of the operation public, it's believed that the transfer of Lee Kang-In from Mallorca has cost PSG around €22m without bonuses added to that fee.

The final price of the operation is unknown but it should rise past that figure in the event Lee reaches the theresholds that would allow his former club to keep getting a bit more money from PSG as the player racks up numbers in Paris.
