      Tyler Y Every character grows on you more and more over the course of this series, there is something really special about this cast and how they act against each other. You will be surprised by how beautiful some of the episodes can be as the series goes on, with Hank and his son Bobby always trying to better relate to each other. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels really brought something special to this series, with the juxtaposition of Judge's penchant for deadpan humor with Daniels' experience with broader sit-com tropes making for a strange beast, as sharp as it was original. The show's inferences into life in the south and the conservative mindset will certainly be funnier for those that grew up in Texas, but the humor is so wise and layered that it couldn't help but attract a universal air. Two decades later, the show's satire on America is still relatable, and its actually nice to see these rightwing characters in a more generous presentation. King of the Hill would go on to last whopping 259 episodes, but this first season likely featured Judge and Daniels vision for the series at its most unfiltered.
