Finishing the Home Stand Against St. Thomas

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer looks to wrap up its three-game home stand with consecutive wins, as the Ospreys take on St. Thomas Monday, Sept. 4, with kickoff set for 7 p.m., at Hodges Stadium.


WHAT TO KNOW

  • The Ospreys are coming off their best offensive performance of the past two seasons after a 4-1 victory against Winthrop.
  • UNF looks to win back-to-back games for the first time since the 2022 season finale against Liberty and Jacksonville.
  • Luc Granitur has been UNF's top goal scorer with three goals in his last two games off of five shots on goal.
  • Granitur already surpassed the individual highwater mark from last season, which was two goals by Joaquin Acuna.
  • Nick Kishchenko had a pair of assists against the Eagles to be one of five Ospreys this season with an assist.
  • Angus Taylor joins Granitur and Acuna has the top shot takers with five total through three matches.
  • Acuna and Zach Board scored their first goals of the season as well against Winthrop, along with Steven Barrier and Brian McManus earning their first assists as freshmen.
  • Chema Preciado continues to stand out as keeper with 13 saves in three games with only one goal allowed in each of the matches.


SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

St. Thomas enters this game winless with losses to Northwestern, UIC and Stetson to start their year. Their most recent game against ASUN foe, Stetson, was a 7-0 shutout loss.

The Tommies are a member of the Summit League who had a 3-12-2 record during their 2022 campaign, including an 0-9 record on the road. They'll being looking for their first true road win since Oct. 26, 2021.

Oliver Bieleveldt has scored the lone goal for St. Thomas this season, while Dennis Mensah Jr. is the only player on the team with multiple shots on goal through three games. Moritz Krenc has been the primary goalkeeper for the Tommies with 14 saves and 12 goals allowed through his three starts.

This is just St. Thomas' third season at the DI level after previously being at the DIII level.


SERIES HISTORY

  • This will be the first time UNF will play against St. Thomas in program history.
