Saint Ignatius Loyola School is a Catholic, co-educational school serving children from PreK-3 through Eighth Grade. We have two beautiful brownstone campuses on the UES: the Lower Campus houses PreK-3 through Kindergarten students, and the Upper Campus is home to students in the First through Eighth Grades. Our mission is to integrate Catholic values, as exemplified by St. Ignatius Loyola and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, with high academic achievement, in an environment that encourages an enthusiasm for learning. Service to the community is also highly encouraged.

Students gain independence while learning the importance of responsibility, honesty, service, and friendship. We offer an enriched curriculum which includes on-level and accelerated mathematics, including Algebra I, on-level and accelerated English language arts, science, religion, art, music, technology, and Latin. Our school is truly a place for students and families who wish to accomplish more in a nurturing environment.

Our PreK3 is just the right combination of play and academics. This happy student is making and playing with slime, which is great fun, but she is also improving her fine motor skills.

The quality of education at SILS is fantastic. Being a blue ribbon school was a huge deciding factor for our family. My daughter has been a student at SILS since kindergarten and as one of the youngest in her grade, I was always concerned she might fall behind but each year her teachers have always been willing to work with us to let us know how we could help at home to reinforce wherever she needed a little extra help. The parent community is great too. The events pre-covid were amazing and we are looking forward to getting back to that hopefully next year. The Head of School, Ms. Larkin, runs a tight ship and the kids know it and respect that. With that said, she is also warm and caring with the kids and my second grader is very fond of her. Girl Scouts are great and we’re excited for more after school clubs returning soon. I’m also a huge fan of the yellow bus service since we don’t live in the UES. Hot lunch program is fantastic too—no more packing lunches for our family!

Review Saint Ignatius Loyola School

We came to Saint Ignatius Loyola School for the strong academics. We liked that the school received Blue Ribbon status twice, we loved that the school teaches Latin, and we were impressed with the consistently top-notch list of high schools to which graduating students matriculate. Five years later, we have not been disappointed. The academics are strong, our children love their classes, and the community is the best. We recommend this school whole- heartedly.

St. Ignatius offers exceptionally high-quality academics at a reasonable price point for NYC. Our family was attracted to and remains for the values: administration infuses the school with spirituality and morality in ways that are fresh, thoughtful, and thought-provoking, never heavy-handed or archaic. Principal is firm yet loving; it’s clear that the best interest of the whole child is always at the forefront of decision-making. Another bonus is the warm and inclusive parent body.
