Out of mind

This subject is written on a topic in the real world and reflects factual information. This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. Out of Mind: The Stories of H. P. Lovecraft is a 1998 Canadian TV movie written and directed by Raymond St-Jean.

Its official tagline: "Haunted by disturbing dreams from an inherited book, a young man becomes interested in the writings of H. P. Lovecraft.

Synopsis[]

Out of Mind is a fictionalised story about a modern-day (1998) young man who inherits a strange book from his deceased uncle. As the story unfolds the young man experiences vivid and horrible dreams of a past life from the 1910s and 1920s. People familiar to him appear in unfamiliar roles and the nightmares continue as he searches for answers and horror begins to emerge in his waking life as well.

Ultimately, he meets the man himself - H.P. Lovecraft - and clearly at least one of them is dreaming...

Behind the Mythos[]

The film namechecks and plays with some of the elements of the Lovecraft works and the Mythos, but also looks at Lovecraft himself, with actor playing the writer, doing a mock radio broadcast using Lovecraft's own words from both his letters and his fictional writing.
