One of the sons of Utah State football coach Blake Anderson has passed away, the university announced.

Details about the circumstances surrounding the tragic news was not available, and the university did not identify which of the coach’s two sons had passed.

Anderson and his late wife, Wendy, had two sons together, Coleton and Cason, and a daughter, Callie.

The coach came to Logan after seven years as the head football coach at Arkansas State University, where his teams had six consecutive winning seasons and made six straight bowl games.

They were also Sun Belt Conference championships in 2015 and 2016.

Anderson had no connections to Utah State or the Beehive State before taking the head coach job after the 2020 season.

His wife died in August 2019 after a three-year battle with cancer. Anderson said everything in Jonesboro reminded him of her, and the move to Logan was an opportunity to start fresh.

Anderson received an outpouring of support from Aggie Nation on Twitter, after a tweet he posted, which read, “God it STILL God in the midst of our broken heart.”
