After debuting her burgeoning friendship — or should we say 'revengeship' — with Taylor Swift and her tight-knit friendship group last year, Sophie Turner just confirmed that the 'Eras' singer provided a serious lifeline for her at the beginning of her divorce.

In September 2023, when Turner's then-husband of four years, Joe Jonas, filed for divorce, she found herself in New York without a place for her and her daughters, Willa and Delphine, to stay. When she reached out to ask Swift whether she knew of anywhere she could rent, the performer went one stop further and offered up her own home for Turner and her children to take refuge in.

'Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,' the Game Of Thrones actor told British Vogue. 'I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me and provided us with a home and a safe space.'

'She really has a heart of gold,' added Turner.

Turner shared a series of images to her Instagram with her friends on New Year's Eve, one of which notably featured Swift. She captioned the carousel: '2023 was the year of the girlies. 2024s forecast is looking fairly consistent.'

In the wake of Turner's relationship demise with Jonas, Swift ushered Turner into her friendship circle, affectionately known as the 'Swift Squad'. Of course, it's worth noting that Swift famously dated Turner's estranged husband, Joe Jonas, in 2008 when she was 18 and he was 19.

Following on from two public dinners the pair enjoyed together in New York last year, according to Page Six, Swift also hosted a ‘girls’ night’ especially for Turner at her apartment.

The friends’ first outing together came in September 2023, just hours before the news broke that Turner was suing Jonas over the 'wrongful retention' of their two children. Swift and Turner ate at Manhattan hotspot Via Carota which preceded a visit to Temple Bar, where they enjoyed ‘martinis and caviar bumps.’

A source told People that the evening, which reportedly ended at 2am, 'cheered [Sophie] up' and that she enjoyed the normalcy of it all.

'They were normal. Completely normal. Everyone was all excited, but they were normal,' an insider recalled, adding: 'Taylor is a great friend — Sophie can talk to her about anything. It cheered Sophie up to spend time with Taylor.'

Two days later, the pair dined together once again, this time with a group of friends, at Hotel Barriere Fouquet.

It’s believed that the pair first met on the Graham Norton Show in 2019. A few weeks after first meeting, Turner told Extra that her and Swift were 'friends' and that Swift is 'a really sweet girl.'
