Judy Berman TIME Magazine A timely reality check on the American dream...until it gets to the bosses. May 18, 2023 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times The ex-president takes inspiration from Studs Terkel, keeping the Netflix docuseries’ focus on the individuals doing the jobs. Rated: 3.5/4 May 18, 2023 Full Review John Anderson Wall Street Journal In some sense, what the former president has taken on with “What We Do All Day” is impossible to accomplish -- the dreary work many Americans are required to do is too dreary to watch. May 17, 2023 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL Working is fascinating in its mini-portraits of all the people interviewed, and Obama makes an appealing, humorous host as he hangs out with them. For me, the show is the best in its first half. Jun 2, 2023 Full Review Joly Herman Common Sense Media Parents and young teens who are having conversations about professions and jobs would have lots of takeaways after viewing this show. May 30, 2023 Full Review Ann Marie Hourihane Irish Independent The bottom line is that for your average viewer, who is your average worker, this series just doesn’t work hard enough. Cindy J Interesting and insightful -- important questions for all to consider Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Hollie V Very humbling watch for those working and living in the middle class and the wealthy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/05/23 Full Review Ian M I am Canadian so not familiar with the politics of Mr. Obama, but from what I have read he never really worked in the traditional sense for most of his life. He went from being an activist to a politician. So doesn't it seem odd and unfair to give him this assignment? That said I gave it my best shot but did not learn anything new and didn't fully understand the series objective. The scope was too narrow to give a true reflection of 'work' in the United States. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Brian F A series that every big-shot businessman should see. It rightly implies a solution to our political polarization, which is good, well-paid, dignified work that gives people a sense of community, purpose, and hope for a better future. Too many corporations have taken too much, therefore leaving less and less good jobs, and thus less hope and dignity resulting in the breakdown of our democracy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Mario C Just a show where Obama shows how great he is. What a bunch of crock. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/23 Full Review Jake M Insightful look into work in 21st century America, with effective delivery through the lens of folks in different industries. Overall a powerful and compelling series that leads with empathy and humanity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
