Does 1490 get considered as 1500 or is there a big difference?

This is so sad gamers. got cucked by a single math question probably worth 20-30 points(750 English 740 Math). is a 1490 even worth submitting to anywhere in the T20? :(

Indeed worth submitting. But nope, 1490 is not considered as good as 1500+

There is (irrationally) a mystic about that number

tis a sad life

so what ur saying is. 1400 is basically 1600, hell let's round that up to 1601

A 1490 is considered a 1490, which is a great score and I would submit it.

yeah, it’s basically the same

Honestly I’m in kind of the same situation with 1550, there is an irrational obsession with 1550+

so close yet so far

1550+ includes 1550 does it not???

nope 1560-1600 is generally seen as tier 1, 1530-1550 next tier, then 1500-1530. Similar to ACT groupings

By whom? I do not believe admissions distinguish like that.

I mean ig everything is the same 1550+, but I don't think anything below that should be grouped. Your score is your score, no point in rounding up or coping. 1490 is still a great score though

As good as 1490 is, 1500+ looks good for a lot of those schools. for most t20s it should be fine (my sibling got into a t20 with a 1490 while getting cucked by affirmative action [both asian]) but I probably wouldn't submit it for like the hypsm/the same schools.

Disclaimer: while I would call myself knowledgeable please don't quote me on any advice

unfortunate :(.blue balled by collegeboard. my older sibling got into a hypsm with a 1500 flat. 💀💀💀, that's why I was asking 😂😂.

It never ends. My first attempt was a 1490 with a perfect math score. I needed that 1500+ so bad

Now I have a 1540 missing the 1550+ privilege lol

No, they are different scores.

1490 to 1500 is like 5 foot 11 to 6 feet. There's actually no difference but everyone thinks there is

Mental difference

Just get a super score. 780-790 math and you will be rocking

u/Virtual_Syrup_2824 avatar

i think ur main concern might be if ur applying stem, so a 740 may negatively L you as its below 25th for most t20s i think. so if u are junior maybe retake to get better math. combined score 1490 is great but that'd be my only cocern.

The school you go doesn’t matter that much in the end. Got offers at a lot of big tech companies and even for investment banking going to a non target school. Y’all just focus on what you can control: EC’s, essays, LOR. Everything will work out in the end.
