Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Tracy FDevon, UK43 contributionsWe pre-booked a rooftop tour at Lincoln Cathedral.
The lovely lady on reception took us through health and safety stuff, which was understandable considering what we had to do!
We had to pay the entrance fee to cathedral, as well as fee for tour. Although this made the trip relatively expensive, the upkeep of this amazing cathedral needs our help with the fees paid.
The guide was amazing, friendly, and very knowledgeable.
Tour took us up some amazing original stone steps to the roof space, we went out onto the roof, and the view was spectacular. Then, along a narrow walkway for an amazing upclose look at a renovated medieval stained glass window and amazing views over the cathedral floor.
Took slightly longer than advertised, not complaining as we learnt a lot and well worth the fee.
If you can manage the narrow steep steps and your head for heights is good, I would recommend this tour.Written 10 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. She was great with the kids (boys 12 & 9) holding their interest and involving them in her amazing stories about the history of Lincoln Castle. There was humour in her tour too which made it feel less formal. Ann your an amazing volunteer and great company. Thank you for making the family from West Sussex enjoy their time at the castle.Written 6 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IamBoothman (Ron P)Wigan, UK59 contributionsI and my 29 year old son went on the 80th Anniversary of D Day for a VIP Experience Day including our taxy ride in the Lancaster.
Everything about the day was fantastic including the weather. We arrived at 9 am and were greeted by the very knowledgable and enthusiastic Safety Officer Liz Dodds (who we had met the previous day at the International Bomber Command Centre where she also works). There was a presentation by Louise explaining the history of the centre and family connection to Christopher Panton who made the ultimate sacrifice piloting a Halifax on a Nuremberg raid in March ‘44.
Followed by briefings of what to expect by our pilot for the day and safety by Liz.
We were on the morning taxy run myself stood behind the flight engineer in the cockpit with my son stood in the mid turret position.
Awesome isn’t enough to describe the experience. The sound, vibration and even smell all added to the event I would recommend to anyone for their bucket list.
The afternoon provided opportunity to view all the other exhibits on the grounds, including seeing their B25 and Mosquito. And to view the second groups taxy run from the field.
On top of the day befores visit to the IBCC this gave further reinforcement to the dedication and sacrifice (which have been ignored by governments and the establishment since WWII) of Bomber Command. This is a must see/do venue for all.Written 9 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It clearly needs the funds that it gets to survive but its doing a good job of rescuing and rehabilitating seals.
It also has the biggest goat I have ever seen!Written 7 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Prices are acceptable in these tough times

There are abundant facilities for children to enjoy including both an indoor and outdoor children's play area. The indoor play area offers soft play for younger ones in the week. There is also a train station where rides can be purchased although you have to hunt for this and we didn't see one signpost.
The gardens are beautiful and there is the conservatory used in the recent Bridgerton prequel of Queen Charlotte. The house is open & there are many rooms to see. It is on a self tour basis.
The grounds are extensive with the estate boasting 1500 acres. There are ponds and a lake. Needless to say as a national trust property there are excellent catering facilities. The car park is large and on gravel. There are electric chargers on site but these are even more expensive than the superchargers so we didn't use these.
Do not miss if you are within the area.Written 9 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Jane27 contributionsFantastic!
Visited before for the Horse Trials but never for the house itself. Very enjoyable visit, informative. Choice of audio guide or not. Chose not to, but enough information in the leaflets for you to learn and spot things without the audio guide.
Amazing rooms, breathtaking art on view, both framed on the wall or the painted walls themselves.
Very impressed by the house.
Then visited the gardens on the way out. Equally impressed with the gardens. Didn't have the time to fully explore. Loved the surprise garden of water features. Also started to discover to sculptures. Like how it isnt an actual trail, you have to wander and keep your eyes open. Will return to discover more in future.Written 10 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Restaurant offers small range of food and very high prices so bring a picnic. Toilet facilities also rather poor.Written 30 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Samandollie09Willington, UK259 contributionsA fun day out was had by 2 teenagers after being dropped off while I walked the dog before meeting back up with them as you can also take your dog round. Market within the island with a variety of shops. Short queues for the rides and one price includes ride photos if you remember to scan your wristbands. Lots of choices from fantastic rollercoasters to rides for smaller children as well as crazy golf and indoor activities. Would definitely go again!Written 1 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joanne CEllesmere, UK510 contributionsWe had a very knowledgeable guide who took us on a tour of the hangar and gave us lots of information about all the planes within the display all of which are air worthy. The access is good and would be suitable for wheel chairs . I wouldn’t recommend it for young children as there is a lot of information to take in and obviously no interactions with the planes . As a bonus the typhoon flew over so the noise was brilliantWritten 23 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
