Linzi is a companion in Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Biography[ | ]

Linzi is a chaotic good halfling bard. She decides to join you because she wants to record your story- she believes that history has suffered from a lack of proper recording at the time of the occurrence of events, and hopes that your deeds in the Stolen Lands will be notable enough for the epic she imagines.

Linzi originally hails from a small village in Galt, where she was born into a farming community with very low levels of education. She was taught to read by a wandering priest, whose stories sparked her interest in heroic tales and learning in general. Later she would run away from home, joining a book merchant named Tessie the Quill until parting ways with Tessie to study at the Academy of Grand Arts in Pitax. Linzi has mixed feelings when reflecting upon her time at the Academy- while she remembers several professors as brilliant, she rankled under the restrictions placed upon the faculty and students by Irovetti. It is eventually revealed that Linzi was often bullied by her fellow students. Linzi's time at the Academy came to an end when she was expelled for a book of satirical limericks mocking Irovetti (a copy of which can be obtained by the player from several sources).

Linzi can be given the position of Curator or Grand Diplomat once the posts become available.

Inspire Confidence. Linzi's enthusiasm inspires her comrades, giving them a +2 competence bonus on their camp duty skills. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels that Linzi gains after reaching level 3.

Linzi may join your party at the end of the prologue, if you make the good aligned choice in conversation with Jamandi Aldori. If she doesn't join you in the prologue, you have a chance later to recruit her with a successful Diplomacy check. Once she joins it's impossible to get rid of her, even through death.

Backstory special abilities
Shelyn's Embrace: This ring allows Linzi to be transported to safety when she would be killed by an attack. However, she will be unusable until she is retrieved.

  • Although Linzi considers herself an excellent writer, several other companions call into question the quality of her prose during camp banter and suggest that it is in fact somewhat amateurish.
  • Linzi is responsible for the character blurbs on all loading screens, which filter character profiles through her own personal ideas about the character in question.
  • Linzi greatly admires Jubilost, often asking for his opinions on things or remarking on his accomplishments during camp banter. She is undeterred by his mockery.
  • Linzi's favorite foods (ice cream and pancakes) are sweet.
  • On occasion, Linzi admits that she embellishes her narrative for entertainment value instead of reporting the exact truth.
Major Ending Spoiler
  • Linzi is the only companion whose death is completely unavoidable- there are methods to keep all other companions alive in the House at the Edge of Time, but Linzi will always be killed defending the player from Nyrissa.
