BBC Radio 2 - Zoe Ball - Biography

Zoe Ball Biography

We're huge fans of the station in the Ball/Cook household. My son is most impressed I'm going to be working at the same station as Sir Terry!

Zoe Ball needs little introduction… After presenting the much lauded ‘Live & Kicking’, in 1999 she was the first woman to front the Radio 1 Breakfast Show alone. Zoe continued her onscreen partnership with Jamie Theakston for four successful series of ‘The Priory’ on Channel 4.

Zoe tripped the light fantastic as a contestant on BBC1's ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ series and took part in a nationwide ‘Strictly’ tour in 2008.

On ITV1, Zoe co-hosted the wildlife series ‘Extinct’ with Trevor MacDonald, presented the second series of ‘Soapstar Superstar’ for the same channel and more recently presented ITV1's nationwide search for a 'Sandy' and 'Danny' in "Grease Is The Word".

Zoe presented Radio 2’s ‘The Definitive History of UK Dance Music’, and a Saturday morning show with Danny Baker. She is regularly heard sitting in for Ken Bruce and Dermot O’Leary on their Radio 2 programmes.

Now Radio 2 welcomes Zoe to the weekend for her new breakfast show on the network. Zoe says: "I'm absolutely bowled over to be joining Radio 2 with my own show. We're huge fans of the station in the Ball/Cook household. My son is most impressed I'm going to be working at the same station as Sir Terry! I've loved filling in for Ken and Dermot recently and now I'm thrilled to have the chance to get to know the Radio 2 listeners a little better by getting up close and personal with them early on a Saturday morning. It's funny to be back on the early shift after almost 10 years since Radio 1. But, after becoming a mum, I'm much more of a morning person these days ... I promise!"
