B i o g r a p h y

STEVEN ROBMAN divides his time between directing for television and for the theatre. He has helmed over 100 hours of television, including 22 episodes of the Golden Globe Award-winning PARTY OF FIVE, and staged more than 50 theatre productions in New York and across the United States.

After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley and spending two years in the Peace Corps, Robman earned an MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama and began staging plays professionally. His work for the theatre includes the premieres of several new plays which continue to be produced both in the U.S. and internationally: Wendy Wasserstein’s UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS and ISN’T IT ROMANTIC, D. L. Coburn’s THE GIN GAME, and Ron Hutchinson’s MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS.

Robman began his television career directing half-hour comedies, ranging from THE FACTS OF LIFE to FAMILY TIES. His work in dramatic series started with THIRTYSOMETHING, followed by episodes of LAW & ORDER, NORTHERN EXPOSURE, L.A. LAW, MELROSE PLACE, SISTERS and MURDER ONE. Robman worked for six years on PARTY OF FIVE, where he served as Co-Executive Producer for three seasons. Later work includes episodes of GILMORE GIRLS, MEDIUM, BOSTON PUBLIC, THE O.C., STRONG MEDICINE, AMERICAN DREAMS, THE GUARDIAN, GHOSTWHISPERER, SHARK, AGAINST THE WALL, and LONESTAR. Robman has also directed 10 television films, including THE AUDREY HEPBURN STORY.

Continuing to work in theatre and television, Robman staged plays in the past two years starring Brian Dennehy, Jane Kaczmarek, Taraji P. Henson, and Gregory Harrison. He also recently produced THE PARTY IS OVER, a feature film with Kyle Mooney and Kathy Baker.
