Nestled in the mountains and greener than Dorothy’s Emerald City. This place is a true treasure.

    Landscaping: amazing
    Flowers : WOW
Wildlife: YES! extra fun to watch
    Peaceful: yes, yes, yes
Bonus: the rope bridge. So. Cool.

    Pro tips:
the restaurant is not open past the closing time at the garden.
Tickets were easy to get once we arrived.
    Bring water
Buy the fish food - it’s fun and there are 3 ponds at least.

Clement House is an impressive place. Surrounded by acres of sugar and banana plants, Clement House welcomes visitors to first walk along paths through beautiful parklike grounds before coming to the old rum distillery and warehouses for storing rum barrels. Visitors mainly walk around the outside of the old building/distillery viewing pieces of the old equipment used in grinding the sugar cane. It no longer is a functioning distillery - at this location anyway. I liked one display area that had a small section of a sugar cane train that once carried the cane from the field to the distillery. A bed of sugar cane plants was good for close up viewing of the cane, but there was no cane tasting. There are bilingual info signs with brief information about what one is looking at. We didn't have audio sets for the audio information at these stops. We took 30 minutes for this walk, but I would have liked more time to walk through the extended parklike grounds to view the plants and various pieces of sculpture placed throughout.

From these outer buildings, the pathway leads to the plantation house. Visitors view a sitting room and a dining room set with good china and glasses on a beautifully polished long dining table. The tropical flower arrangements were lovely to see in the house. The hallway had family photos of the original owner and of Bush's and Mitterrand's meeting at the house. The house visit takes about 5 minutes

The visit ends in the very clean and modern rum tasting room and gift shop where bottles of the rum that we tasted could be purchased (12E to 22E). We had 2 strong rum tastings (finger size) in stemware and 1 tasting of a rum and fruit mixture. The rum tasting takes about 10 minutes.

I thought the entrance fee (10E) was reasonable. Washrooms are plentiful and clean. There is no food available for purchase, but one can enjoy one's own picnic at picnic tables in the "park". Paths are paved and often have colorful showy tropical foliage plants alongside. Parking is plentiful. The drive from Fort de France across the island to this attraction is 30 minutes and the paved roads are well maintained.

We visited this attraction on a cruise ship excursion so our time was limited to just over an hour visit. If you want to see harvested sugar cane being shredded, crushed and boiled, this is not the place.

We were not prepared for the experience we had at La Savane des Esclaves. At first we were surprised by the fee (for 2 adults and 1 teen = $32) but, once inside, we understood. We walked around the beautiful grounds, reading through the different exhibits, learning so much about such a terrible time in history. There is a video with English subtitles, and all of the information boards were written in English and French. It left us wanting to learn so much more about the early settlers and slaves. The creator of the exhibits/grounds did such a great job of bringing you into the lives of those living during that time...you could feel their struggles and the injustice of their oppression.

Beautiful beach an hour's drive from cruise terminal. As our ship was one of four in port thought it would be good to get away from the crowds. So pleased we did. Beach is beautiful with sunbeds for hire, food & drink options. Sea very calm and safe. Highly recommend a visit we paid US $50 per person for the return trip.

Fun zoo, admission was 17 or 18 euro per adult a far price for the exp. Friendly informative staff lots of cool animals and plants and exhibits to see. Built on an old sugar plantation or processing site lots of old sugar milling equipment around with info about the machines and process of growing and processing sugar on the island. Took us about 2 hours to see all they had too offer.

This really unique. People can go on the ocean and they don't have to swim. Once at the special place named 'La Baignoire de Josephine", The floor is stable and anyone can walk anywhere.

People like to walk on that, because it is different and attractive!

    A must see!

Our guide Pablo took us on his boat for half a day to the Fond blancs, the baignoire de Joséphine, a secluded beach and the Mangroves.

It was absolutely magical as was the incredible knowledge and hospitality he shared. It is well worth investing in this experience!

Excellent snorkeling for beginners to more experienced. The sea turtles are often found here feeding on sea grass. In addition to turtles, we saw cuttlefish, trumpet fish, and lots of others. There is a small restaurant, public toilets, and an ice cream stand. Just be aware that parking can be difficult and you may have to walk a bit up the road.

Tucked away in very attractive surrounding in the far north of the island, this distillery is great for a visit to learn about rhum making process and sample some drinks. Entry for the tour and tasting is entirely free. There is a self- guided walk lasting around 30 minutes along a defined route which takes you past a small sample sugar cane plantation, the huge machines which process the sugar cane through to fermentation, distillation, storage and a tasting bar. The tour envelopes you in the noise and odour of the rhum making process and is very authentic.
You are given the opportunity to sample four different drinks and there is the option to purchase before you leave. We opted for the miniatures box, a selection of six different drinks with tasting notes which was economical for the limited space available on flights.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable visit.

A varied hike with a variety of superb views and landscapes especially rocky shoreline/cliffs and mangroves. It was a highlight of our trip to Martinique.

There are three options: the full 8km hike, a shorter 6km hike cutting off the headland and a short hike of 2km focused only on the mangroves. I scoffed at the long times suggested on the information panels, but we took 2h 45 for the middle distance (6km) - terrain, chats, admiring the view all add to the time.

Path is well marked with blue/white painted discs rather than poles.. Not really suitable for young kids, given the high cliffs. Would be much trickier in wet weather - on slippery exposed volcanic rocks. Terrain is rough in places - we didn't have to scramble but lots of up and down. If you have problems with climbing stairs the walk out to the lighthouse and back is along a fairly flat track (though there are steps up to the lighthouse itself).

Walk clockwise as you end up at the chateau which sells refreshments! Go early, take water, add an hour to the times do the chateau (Well worth the visit - it closes at 16.30 and there is a charge) and you will need proper footwear, but training shoes are fine.

Finally, lots of people park at the end of the bitumen, but you can drive a further kilometre or so on the dirt and there is a second car park just before the track is gated (and the paved surface resumes!) and the track diverges down to the chateau.

Wonderful experience to understand the history of Martinique , discover the richness of its culture and origin, learn more about medicinal plants in a beautiful natural surrounding but most Importantly , Pierre- Yves is sharing his personal story and message of deep humanity in a very humble and nice way.
Super highly recommended + not to be missed :-)
