BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Glenville State Football team has been selected to finish 5
th in the Mountain East Conference this season, the league announced this evening. The Pioneers finished in a four-way tie for 4
th in the conference last season.
Reigning MEC Champion Notre Dame College was tabbed to win the league once again in 2023. Frostburg State is projected to finish 2
nd, followed by Charleston at #3 and the Mountain Lions of Concord right in front of the Pioneers at #4. UNC Pembroke is predicted to finish 6
th with Wheeling (7
th) and West Virginia State (8
th) rounding up the top 8. Rival Fairmont State is expected to be 9
th, West Liberty tabbed at the #10 spot and West Virginia Wesleyan completes the preseason poll at #11.
Glenville State is coming off a (7-4, 6-4 MEC) 2022 season after winning the final three games of the season. Two of those three victories were by a combined three points. The Pioneers look to carry over their late season success from last year into the 2023 campaign when they open up at Northwood University (Mich.) on Thursday, August 31
st at 2 p.m.
