Following their collaboration on Kick-Ass, director Matthew Vaughn reteamed with Mark Millar to produce a movie based on the latter's graphic novel Kingsman: The Secret Service. Vaughn and screenwriter Jane Goldman turned the comic into a spy movie in the same vein as the Roger Moore-era Jame Bond movies, with larger than life villains, world-ending schemes and tongue-in-cheek humor.

The movie follows Taron Egerton's Eggsy was he's trained to become a member of an elite spy agency known as The Kingsman. The heart of the movie is his mentorship with veteran Harry Hart (Colin Firth) with the duo eventually working to take down Samuel L. Jackson's bad guy. Kingsman: The Secret Service is significantly more violent than the retro Bond movies it was aping, but it proved to be a blockbuster. An all-star cast was soon assembled around the returning players for 2017 sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, with newcomers including Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges and Channing Tatum.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle was another hit but wasn't received as warmly, with many feeling it lacked the wit and heart that made the original a fun surprise. Some reviewers also found a sex scene around the midway point to be needlessly tacky. For those seeking the sequel out online, its not currently available on platforms like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime.

The next entry in the franchise will be prequel The King's Man, charting the founding of the spy organization, with a cast consisting of Ralph Fiennes, Harris Dickinson and Gemma Arterton. That doesn't mean the adventures of Eggsy and Harry are over, with both characters due to return for Kingsman 3, which will end the current trilogy. There was also talk of a Kingsman TV series and a spinoff focusing on sister spy agency The Statesman, and Taron Egerton has spoken of his interest in one day returning for a fourth movie where an older Eggsy acts as a mentor to a new trainee. While the response to Kingsman: The Golden Circle was mixed, the future of the franchise seems bright.
