I stayed in a few hotels in the area, and this was my favorite. Overall, the property is in great shape, my room was very nice, extremely comfortable, and the staff were helpful. The Hampton Inn is definitely nicer than the nearby Holiday Inn.

Beware that on busy nights (weekends) there can be a lot of partygoers in the hotel as groups and large families come and go at late hours. There was noise at night. However, I think that will be the case at all hotels in this area.

We have been staying at the Hampton Inn in South Kingstown since the year after it opened. We missed a few summers, but our recent stay in July was great! Clean rooms and lobby/breakfast area, friendly staff, and close to places we wanted to visit. A shout out to Aaron and Tara for great customer service! At the moment, due COVID-19, there is no room service and breakfast is limited. For us, those were no problems. The front desk will let you how to handle anything that would have required room service. As for breakfast/coffee, there is a Dunkin nearby. as well as a Starbucks. There is a Cafe in the hotel plaza. It was closed for vacation, while we were there, so we will check it out next time. There are also two other diner type places nearby. Ask the front desk. For any meals you bring back to the hotel, you can eat in the breakfast area of the hotel, if you would like. Beaches and great restaurants in the area!

We visitedNewport RI, stayed in Middletown the first night and paid over 400.00 for a high rated hotel that sucked. The following night we found this gem. So reasonable in cost and it was nice. Clean, decent beds, nice breakfast. They lacked help but that’s par for these times, but they were accommodating and helpful. In nice area and very close to Newport. We would go back. As long as we have a clean hotel with friendly staff that’s all we need and this place delivered.

Stayed here during a recent visit to University of Rhode Island. We chose it due to it's proximity to the school as well as being near a few restaurants. I used the Hilton app to select my room ahead of time and check in. Based on other reviews, I had selected a room on the 3rd floor/tree side of the hotel. Unfortunately, when it was time to check in and get my digital key, I was notified that they had moved me to a different hotel (also on the 3rd floor, but overlooking the parking lot). Not a big deal, but surprising as when I checked in and selected my room the night before there were many available rooms so not sure why our room was changed.

The room was pretty standard with 2 queen beds. There was a refrigerator in the room which was nice. There was also a small coat rack on the wall which was so convenient (see photo)! I always worry about hanging up a coat or jacket in the closet for fear we will leave it behind when we check out. I hope coat racks become standard in all hotels!! The room itself was clean and the bathroom was typical for a Hampton Inn. We did turn the heat on at night as it was a little chilly, but that was a mistake as throughout the night it kept cycling on and off and was extremely loud.

We didn't have much interaction with the staff as we checked in and out via the app - however, we were greeted by the person at the front desk each time we entered or exited the hotel.

There is a room just off the lobby that seemed to have paint and other construction type materials in it. Not sure if they are refreshing some of the rooms, but I thought it was odd that the door to that room was open a few of the times we passed through the lobby. It also seems like they don't have a service elevator as housekeeping was using one of the 2 primary guest elevators which sometimes led to a backup since not many guests could fit in the elevator with their luggage plus the housekeeping equipment. This was most noticeable on the morning we were checking out.

The hotel is located near a small development filled with shops, a few restaurants, offices and a now closed movie theater. This made it very easy to grab a bite to eat which we appreciated.

I had a reservation that I booked in July for a weekend in September and it was canceled before my planned trip. Now I’m left trying to book other locations priced 2x above the price at Hampton and located further away from Town Beach. More notice to book another location or a free night at a later date (to offset my increased cost) would’ve been the right thing to do. I’m even a Gold Hilton Honors member and they still kick you to the curb.

We stayed here three nights in August 2022. Pretty average experience.

The hotel’s location is good for exploring Narragansett and surrounding areas; the hotel is in a little shopping center with some restaurants and a movie theater. Parking was ample and easy, and the hotel felt safe.

The room was fairly standard for a Hampton, but had some care issues. The closet door had been removed, but its fasteners hadn’t. The consequence of no closet door was no full length mirror in the room. One wall had visible damage (a gash in the wall). Lots of walls, in the room and common areas, were scuffed. The nightstand to the left our bed, attached to the headboard, was hanging at an angle; the lampshade on this nightstand had damage. Towels were thinner than I’m accustomed to at Hampton properties. Thankfully, everything was clean, but the hotel seemed worn.

Breakfast was a standard Hampton Inn breakfast; nothing amazing, but got the job done.

Service was disappointing. We arrived late, and the staff member working had just finished a transaction with other guests who had an issue with their room. As soon as they departed the desk, he rolled his eyes hard at them, which was unprofessional. Checking us in, he didn’t verify our reservation, stay length, etc., nor acknowledge Hilton Honors status; I had to ask for the typical bottle of water offered to Diamond members. The second morning of our stay, we asked if our room could be cleaned (the hotel no longer offers daily housekeeping, which is annoying), and we got a bunch of attitude from the front desk clerk for not requesting this 24 hours in advance. Some serious customer service training would make for a better guest experience; the general attitude of those working seemed to be that they were doing guests a favor rather than, say, helping paying customers.

Not horrible, but can’t say it was great, either.

So, it I hate to write a negative review for a hotel in a beach area during the summer, but here it is! The front desk staff are nice- great even! They give the impression that they want to help and want you to enjoy your stay. The hotel itself is a little tired. Some worn carpeting, repaired cracks in the shower surround, and minimal water pressure. Still, even with that, it is a pretty adequate place to stay. And, for families, there is a pool; typical Hampton Inn breakfast; and, you are near shops and activities.

Where this hotel falls apart is housekeeping. They claim that they are only cleaning rooms every four days, unless you request, due to Covid protocols. Ok, fine, I guess?? But, even when you request, they don’t show up. And, if you keep asking, someone will eventually come and leave towels, or make the beds, but no actual cleaning appears to get done- like nothing wiped down, no vacuuming, no changing shuts, etc. And, don’t count on them bringing you more shampoo or soap when they “clean” the room. The only way we’ve gotten that is by requesting at the front desk. Now, because housekeeping is done by floor, I’m assuming you could stay on a floor with great housekeeping. We just didn’t find that here and it was very disappointing. I often wonder with chains like this, why a regional manager doesn’t stop in and check these hotels?? It’s clearly a problem when guests are putting their own trash outside their doors because housekeeping hadn’t been by, or are seeking their own toiletries and towels at the front desk. Simple spot checks would ensure that future guests would not be disappointed. Truly not up to Hampton Inn or Hilton standards.
(Ps: ice machine broken on our floor for the whole week we’ve been here, too.)

My fiancé and I go away every month for a mini vacation, and this time we decided to try this location. Worst decision ever. We stayed in the king bedroom, and first thing we did is sit on the bed and realized it was on a very cheap boxsping so it was extremely loud. Any time one of us turned on our side the whole bed made a squeaky crunching sound. The hot tub was not working. The pool was very dirty, there were toothpicks floating in the water. Then back at the room, we realized there were some black things in the pillowcases and on the pillows. Possibly bugs?? This led us to further inspect the bed and see blood stains on the sheets and what appeared to be a blood stain on the wall. The mattress had NO bed protector. I worked in the mattress industry for years and this is a huge cause for concern. Also, in the morning I saw a couple of bugs on the bed, they looked like ants. They most likely were crawling on us as we slept. I will be going home and sanitizing myself and anything I brought into this nightmare of a room. I am telling everyone I know to not come here.

Our recent stay at this Hampton Inn was troubling, to the say the least. It began poorly when, despite being Hilton Diamond members who stay at Hilton hotels frequently, our request for a King room was not honored in favor of keeping wedding guests in adjoining rooms. We were placed in a suite that consists of a very small bedroom and a very small living room, the living room having no windows and being so dark, my husband and I could not see to unpack. When we asked for additional lighting, we were told that some of the lighting for some of the rooms was missing and “on back order.” The staff brought us a desk lamp that did not provide additional light. Eventually, the staff found us a floor lamp, I believe from a conference room, which did help a bit, although it revealed a fair amount of dust on the living room furniture. Given that we had already unpacked, and the hotel could not offer us a suitable room alternative, we decided to stay in the suite and make the best of it. Unfortunately, things got worse when we returned from dinner and looked more closely in the bathroom, finding pubic hair in the shower. We again tried to make the best of it, cleaning the shower with hot water and trying to forget about it, when we found a live bug in the bed. We reported the bug (fearing bed bugs), and one of the staff members, Richard, came in the room and tore the bedding apart, assuring us that it was merely a “gnat” and there were no other bugs to be found. He offered us the option to “stay or go.” We chose to go, luckily finding a Marriot about 30 minutes away, ruining our weekend at the beach, but at least giving us a clean place to sleep. The next morning, I realized that I was missing my Garmin smartwatch, which I had placed on the nightstand near the bed before we found the bug. Fairly confident that the watch was knocked off the nightstand when Richard, the staff member, tore the bedding apart searching for other bugs, we called the Hampton Inn and asked the staff to search for it. Unfortunately, they cannot locate it, so we have to call it a loss. We were also prevented from checking out, because the Hampton Inn has a two-night minimum in the summer, so we were charged for two nights even though we only stayed for a few hours. The manager, Letel, has not responded to our email seeking to be refunded for this horrible experience. We’ve had mixed experiences at Hilton properties, but we have always remained loyal, feeling that the good always outweighed the bad. After this experience, it seems Hilton has no regard for us as customers.

We arrived 07082021. I booked 2 rooms adjourning. They were not. I was a bit offput.
Our room was standard fair. AC worked, fridge worked. Went down the hall to check in with the other ppls room. Their AC wasnt working nor their fridge. But they said they would turn it up and hoped it would turn on.
We all went out for dinner and came back later. Their AC still did not kick on, nor their fridge. They turned down the sheets only to find a ton of sand in their “ supposed” fresh sheets. We went to front desk. They gave them a different room, however, originally we were supposed to have adjourning rooms, now they are two floors above. We were not pleased.
Its late, we turn down our covers to find a blood stain on one side of the bed on the sheets. I was so tired and pi@@ed, i flipped the covers back up and slept on top of the bed.
I didnt feel like waiting for someone to come take care of yet another problem.
I had asked when I called, if coffee was always ready. They had said yes.
At 5am, I went to get a cup of coffee. The coffee IS NOT always hot and ready so I nuked the coffee in the machine but first, I could not see as the microwave was in the dark. This man working the kitchen area, I asked if he could help me with the microwave and he gave me a dirty look and flipped on the light.
The workout room had no towels, the water machine for the fitness center was down around the corner from the fitness center and not convenient.
The only reason I gave it A 1 Star is because Tara and Elaina were AWESOME AND FRIENDLY. The deserve huge kudos for their customer service. Great job Girls
