No changes at this time. I am from out of state and freshman year was a huge adjustment but I am looking forward to going back for sophomore year.
The thing that stood out the most during my first year at Baylor University in Waco, Texas was the caring nature of my Academic Advisor and Professors. As someone who is intimidated by reaching out and asking for help, they all made me feel comfortable. Whether it was a question about the next steps in my Academic career or simply a question about an individual assignment, each person I encountered at Baylor made sure I not only felt welcomed but also heard.
I fully enjoyed my experience at Baylor over my 4 years of undergraduate. I lived on campus all 4 years and this made it incredibly easy to be connected to all the campus life, events, and attend athletics. Baylor has a rich history and a lot of traditions, that I still hold dear as an alumni. If you have the scholarships to attend, or the personal financial opportunity to attend, I would highly recommend having your college experience be in Bear Country! :)
I thought Baylor's campus life and environment was always very welcoming. The community aspect of Baylor's campus was one of my favorite parts of going there.
I lived at Brooks RC and it was super fun! If you're looking for an involved community I highly recommend living there. It is a two-year contract, but definitely worth it. Overall professors are nice and they enjoy what they are teaching. There are also so many clubs and events throughout the year so you're never bored. The best dining hall is 100% East Village. Penland is good depending on what you get, but sometimes meat is undercooked and there was an issue at the beginning of the year where people got food poisoning from it. Brooks has the best staff, and Memo has a couple of good stations but mostly is pretty mid. Baylor is so generous with Scholarships and Financial Aid for the regular school year, but just know if you're taking Summer classes, there are only loan options unless you're graduating early. Then there is an option to apply your academic scholarship to the Summer tuition as long as you're in good standing.
Baylor was really fun, I had such an amazing time learning from my professor and built long lasting friendships. I also learnt more about myself.
It was great, I made a lot of friends and got to know a lot of people. There academics were not to bad but somewhat intense being a Nursing Major. I am going to their Nursing campus in Dallas Texas which I am very excited for.
Choosing to go to Baylor University was the best decision I ever made. I love everything about this school and I am so thankful for all the opportunities it has provided me with. I have been so successful because of how much everyone cares and wants you to succeed. The thing that set Baylor apart from other schools to me was how unapologetically Christian they are and how Jesus is the why no matter what. They teach you to not only work hard and get far in life but to be a good and kind person. I LOVE this school and would recommend it to anyone and everyone!
Baylor University is a very unique place to be in the way that they have a big school sports culture, while still being a generally small-sized school where you can get to know people really well. The programs for medicine and business are very strong and the subsequent alumni network is quite notable. Baylor being a Christian school facilitates a culture that is open about Christianity, and they work that into their curriculum as well. Being able to view faith with an academic lens also really helps; I found that I grew stronger in my faith because of it and grew closer to the community with a better understanding of Christianity. Furthermore, Baylor encourages its student body and faculty to hold DEI (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) events. Awareness on both culture and religious backgrounds other than Christianity is encouraged throughout the school and by the faculty and professors as well. Coming from an international background, I really appreciate this aspect of the university.
It surrounded me with a great Christ-centered learning environment which aligned me deeply with my faith. It allowed me to grow with each other not just academically but spiritually throughout just my first few days including Orientation. This university, upon visiting actually made me underestimate the vast acres of schoolyard that I was in, and overall the students & staff there treated me with a very wholesome environment, one that I can see myself staying at for the next few years.
Baylor has been an awesome experience for me during my time in undergrad. I was lucky enough to get involved in Kappa Alpha Theta, American Student Dental Association, and an off-campus small group at a local church. The academics at Baylor were challenging, but I believe they have prepared me well for dental school next year. I appreciated that the professors at Baylor were always willing to help. Whether that was with questions about their course, personal advice, or advice for professional school. Something I would like to see change at Baylor would maybe be the safety level. The outskirts of campus can be shady many times, and I hope there is a way to keep the students safer as they walk to and from home every day.
I would like to see baylor put more money back into the students instead of wasting our money on things that aren't for students.
Baylor is an overall incredible school upon first impression. The school's Christian values are undeniably upheld by students and faculty alike, and the education received is unmatched.
I liked how the campus was organized and how they have activities going on all the time. From clubs to festivals to small events. Lots of things to do, and places to eat and study. Maybe more coverings outside in areas to escape sun and if it rains
Baylor has top tier professors. They truly care about your success and the lectures are built in a way that make the material easy and fun to learn. This school is worth every penny!!
Its my first year at Baylor and I absolutely love it! Everyone is so kind and it truly is a christian community. I love how beautiful and safe compus is and the professors are awesome! So glad I chose Baylor and wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Sic 'em bears!
I enjoyed my time at Baylor. I was able to enroll in the Baylor Business Fellows program, which allowed me to pursue my interests broadly. I completed two majors, all the medical school prerequisite courses, a science minor, and a language minor while still having time for electives. I thought there was a good variety of student organizations and opportunities to get involved on campus, no matter what your interests were. I also liked the fact that Greek life is not overwhelming - there's a community there if you're interested in that, but there are many other opportunities for fellowship outside of that circle. I also liked the Christian values of the campus and the school's mission, as a Christian myself. Finally, I enjoyed the many university-wide traditions that occurred every year - it truly brought out Baylor's community of both students and alumni, as well as families. There is a real sense of belonging and family at Baylor.
