We vacationed with 4 yr old boy and we could not have been happier. The childrens center has the water slides, arts and crafts, movies which kept our son entertained throughout our stay. In addition, they had a party every evening with different themes each night for kids. Most importantly the childrens center staff was very attentive, warm and caring. The food was alright, nothing special, the Mexican restaurant was the best by far. Staff was friendly, beach was great with plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas, fun activities around the pool, there is something for everyone at this resort. Rooms are a little small but clean. If your traveling with children this is a great place the positives out weigh the negatives, we would go back.

We had fun and mainly enjoyed the Italian buffet for dinner the most, since the only dinner reservation we could get was at Wayne's boots and it wasn't very good. Breakfast and snack buffets were delicious.

Overall the hotel was decent, and I would go back again, but there are a lot of items I learned on my visit that I wish I would have known or done different. For reference, I am 40 and took my wife and two kids (16 and 14). This review might be a tad long, and I may include too many details, but I wish I would have read reviews like the one I am about to leave.
First off, the hotel is a tad old, and had quite a few maintenance needs: elevators were slow, looked very worn on the outside, screens were broke so it was hard to tell what floor one was on, and you could never tell which direction the elevator was going until you got on. Our kids had their own room, and there door would always get stuck and was hard to open. Stairwells also had rails that were just laying on the staircase waiting to be re-attached.
Secondly, the food was ok. I guess I should not have expected to much from an all-inclusive. There were plenty of options to choose from, so variety was never an issue just quality. I did have some excellent dishes, but they were rare. The street tacos for lunch were amazing, and it is hard to screw up eggs and fruit for breakfast. The restaurants you need reservations at were fair. Wayne’s Boot, the steakhouse, was ok for flavor but think Sizzler for quality of meat. The French restaurant was almost a joke. The flavor was good on the main dishes, but the portions were very small. The real joke was the “fresh” rolls they presented at the beginning. You could totally tell they were an instant Pillsbury Doughboy product. I never ate at the Fisherman’s place, but my wife and kids said it was decent. The Italian restaurant was closed. The best place to eat lunch at was the outside area by the towel pick-up place. They always had a decent meal there. The sushi shop was not that great, actually pretty bland.
My kids had plenty to do during the day, as we went on several excursions or played on the beach, but after dinner they were quite board. The kid zone room only had a few pool tables and game stations, but they were always crowded with younger kids. The movies also never seem to start on time, and once again parents left their younger children to run around and act crazy.
Be warned that you will be immersed in a full time flea market with little shops set-up in hotel lobby during the evenings, and every time you step on the beach. You will also be greeted just about every day, and sometimes multiple times during the day to attend their 90 minute sales presentation to join their membership club. I would attend on the first day if you have time before you book any excursions. You get breakfast, and then you get a few gifts plus a discount on excursions. Just make sure you get the quote of the excursion price before and after you go to the presentation before you buy. Also, if you plan any excursions, be ready for a long 1-2 hour commute. Most of the activities are located closer to Playa Del Carmen than Cancun.
Onto the good stuff. Roger and Arturo were the best bartenders in the hotel. They were always at the pool bar, and were great to work with. I did have my fair share of drinks just for the record. There was also a female bartender in the adult bar that was excellent, but I never did get her name. The beach was amazingly warm and clear. It was always a little windy so we did not get to venture too far out. Room service was good, and they always stocked the mini fridge with beer, soda, and water.
Here are just a few tips:
1) If you go on the presentation, negotiate with them until they offer additional money, price discounts on the excursions, and additional gifts if you want. Don’t be afraid to walk away, but try and go during the first few days. For reference, I did not sign up for their club.
2) Exchange money before your trip. The hotel takes US dollars, but the exchange rate is a joke and you will get ripped off.
3) Tip the bartenders well.
4) If you go on excursions and have dinner reservations the same day, just make sure your reservations are for later in the evening. I would recommend 9 as we did not get back to the hotel until 8ish on a few trips. If your excursions leave early, just plan something for breakfast as the buffet does not open till 7am, and some trips leave at 7am.

We decided to visit this hotel for a family vacation in July 2016. We brought our three youngest children ages 10, 5, 3. It was out first visit to Cancun.

Our room was clean but the air-conditioning did not work so well. There was a dampness in the room and a faint musty smell. The beds were good and clean linens. The fridge was stocked with minimal drinks and waters and 2 beers for a family of 5. If you wanted to get more it was difficult. The cleaning staff did a good job.

The room has travertine floors throughout and they are slippery when wet. Our youngest son took a spill and hit his head and it left a big bump. Capet would be a better choice.

There is a kids club water park for the kids to enjoy and it is great for giving mom and dad a break. The young staff working there are great with the kids and speak good English. The nightly shows were fun and the children loved it. Michael Jackson and the magic show were the favorites.

The beach is nice but the surf was a little rough for the little ones. Apparently the sand had been replenished from erosion and there was a drop off in depth and a rip tide.

Pool activities were fun for the whole family and there is a rock climbing wall and water slide for the big kids. If you want a chair by the pool good luck. They are reserved in advance and people will place towels on them before the sun come up and then never use them.

The food was average for a buffet. The rearrange require reservations ahead of time so plan for it. Or favorite was the French restaurant where we celebrated our anniversary. They decorated the table with rose petals and made us an anniversary cake. The food was wonderful but no kids allowed. The Mexican restaurant was the family favorite.

We decided to visit the Mayan ruins that are walking distance from the hotel. The Del Rey archeological site. It is small but very neat place. Lots of iguanas and some ruins and the kids liked it.

We took a bus to the city to look for gifts and explore and it was not a good idea. We learned that the resort has everything you need and is safe. Especially with children in tow.

Overall it was a lot of fun and I recommend it.

Had an excellent time here! The food in the buffet let it down and the Pepsi being flat. The room was nice.Everywhere was kept very clean inside and out. The staff couldn't do enough to help you,bar staff, waiters etc.Best of all though were the entertainers, doing pool activities, shows, you name it.Octavio and Paola really went the extra mile and made sure everyone had a great holiday. It didn't matter if you were 5 or 50 they had something for everyone. Always smiling, energetic, getting people involved and would help you with anything. Would definitely recommend this hotel, good staff makes all the difference in my opinion.

Arrived late Friday check in was quick but room was not ready ,had to wait around for an hour or so before we were escorted to our room. We stayed in the club section on the 5th floor room was very outdated. Called the front desk three times as the fridge did not work finally gave up and had to fill the ice bucket twice a day and put it in the fridge to keep my wife's medicine chilled fyi ice fridge on the 5th floor doesn't work either so you have to go to the 6th floor. If you like cold showers this is the place for you never in 7 days did we have a warm shower ,one day the hot water tap didn't even work. Now the best part the food ! My wife and I have never been so sick we spent three days of our holiday in our room puking our guts out after eating in the buffet . We have travelled to Mexico and stayed at numerous resorts and have never had any food issues . First time I ever came home from Mexico 5 Lbs lighter than when I left.We enjoyed the breakfast in the club room as Issac was excellent and always made sure you had a full coffee .Only issue we had there was I watched the chef bring in fresh bacon one morning and he grabbed a handful with his bare hand and filled the container until it was full ( end of the bacon for me ! ) All in all the experience at this resort was very poor and would recommend going else where ! Would never return .

Our stay was amazing. The staff were so lovely and attentive. The La Palapa restaurant where the buffets are served offers a great range of foods, drinks and desserts. Look out for Hector at the restaurant, super attentive, friendly and always welcomes us with a smile. P.s and even though the food and drinks are all inclusive there's never any harm in life the odd tip or two.
