Michael Feinstein Sings The Burton Lane Songbook, Vol. 1 was released in August of 1990; and it still sounds as fresh as it did 23 years ago.
This is the first in a series of albums in which he performs; and records the works of prominent composers, often times accompanying him on vocals. In 1992 a follow-up was released, "Michael Feinstein Sings The Burton Lane Songbook, Vol. 2"
For any true fan of Michaels this is definitely one for your collection; and for those who may not be familiar w/ his works this is a great place to start.
I never hesitate to recommend any of his releases because from the first studio recording entitled "Pure Gershwin" right up to his most recent "The Sinatra Project, Vol. 2: The Good Life" not including, ("Change of Heart: Songs of Andre Previn", @ the time of this writing it is not yet released) he has refused to simply rely on his past achievements; settling for mediocre is not a Feinstein trait, this dedication brought him to the attention of The Library of Congress; who appointed him to its "National Recording Board". As I stated Michael Feinstein = Perfection.
