Jannik Sinner has a massive decision to make about his participation in the 2024 Roland Garros, with doctors urging maximum caution.

Sinner is currently recovering from a hip injury he sustained while competing at the Madrid Open towards the end of last month. He was forced to withdraw from the event before his scheduled quarterfinal match.

Since then, the 22-year-old has elected not to play at the Italian Open, the last ATP 1000 tournament on clay before the French Open. Sinner explained that he was carrying out low-intensity training in Monaco and was not following his usual routines.

He traveled to Italy to meet with several of his fans at the Foro Italico as a courtesy call to the tournament. He spoke to the media in his home country to give them inside information regarding his fitness plan and the severity of his injury.

The Australian Open champion has been rehabbing at J|Medical in Turin, the Italian football club Juventus' medical center. This center offers athletes world-class facilities and equipment while they recover from injuries.

His physio Giacomo Naldi and trainer Umberto Ferrara are working around the clock to get him up to speed for Roland Garros. Sinner's stay in Turin was expected to conclude on Wednesday, and according to Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, further tests will be conducted regarding the hip injury.

The outlet also reports that a decision on Sinner's involvement at Roland Garros will be made later this week, but according to the Italian's team of specialists, it would be best if he withdrew from Roland Garros.

Sinner was candid during a recent interview in Rome when he stated that he would not play at the clay Slam if he felt underprepared. While the injury is not detrimental, doctors urge caution given the delicate nature of the joints involved. Time is certainly not on the World No. 2's side.
